ATOS

Post by Viewfindergeneral »

I am currently on sick leave with a bad back. It's not too serious but it is causing me pain and I felt that resting at home would be less likely to cause a prolonging of my absence than risk aggravating my injury on a four hour delivery. It is only my second absence in 5 years and I expect to have to take two days off.

This morning I received a phone call from my DOM asking me how I was and if I would agree to a telephone call from ATOS. Naively, I agreed. The question is what reason would my DOM suggest for a phone call from ATOS as this is the first time I have been absent due to back pain and is it too late for me to refuse to speak to them? I have nothing to hide but I would prefer deal with my back problem myself. I feel that my DOM is being premature with involving ATOS. Is this the usual procedure or am I being given special treatment?

It`s normal now for these clowns to get Atos involved as quickly as possible.
The reason they call you so quickly especially over a bad back is so Atossers can say that your fit to go back to work on light duties and that they can offer you some physio,it`s all a front for management to bully people back into work and should be stamped out, but the union bigwigs are far too busy patting themselves on the back about there super ace last Sickness/ill health policy with Royal Fail!
Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Atos called me after a while they said, and what steps would get you back to work? erm i said treating people with respect fairness and a bit of compassion would help.He said hed get in touch with my management ,and told me ive another phone counselling session on a few days! Do these atos ppl not realise how really badly treated we are in our mail offices? It makes you angry seeing a national insitution like the r mail beeing decimated week by week by the profit hungry guys at the top. Work hard week in week out to line the pockets of these so called chief execs.

I was contacted by ATOS when I was off with a bad back. I actually found them quite helpful and they arranged for me to see a physio for a few weeks. That being said it did make me feel pressured back into work... sometimes you just need time to recover without being hassled. With something like depression for example, the stress of work and ATOS on your back can really make things worse :confused
Union what Union? Do we have a union?

Well I have been off 4 months and counting because of my condition MS. Atos nurse rang me and said I needed to see the Atos doc. So they gave me a appointment at 9 AM over 70 miles away ! so said no and got one 4 mile away. Anyway turns out they sent a report to RM with no GP report as late arriving and no Neurologist report . So my Dom has referred me back to Atos, . Nurse ringing me Monday , then I`ll have to go visit the Doc again . I think I`m on a merry-go-round at times lol

Thanks for the replies. I've not been contacted yet and I will be back at work on Monday so if they do contact me I think i will politely decline their "help".

I just can't believe you were off work because you had a cold. But then you are a man.C'mon a bloody cold oh sorry is that not man flu.
Sorry RM don't pay me enough to go into work, trudge through the snow for 4 hours in poor and frankly abysmal uniform.
(Shoes that wear out fast, leak, water proof coats that aren't, fleeces that are designed for summer and winter (WTF), paper thin trousers, and bags that absorb water) if I have a temperature.

and no it was not man flu :left: :left:

Mind you in a modern work place that cares about its workforce you would have thought uniform fit for purpose would be a priority, particularly as the corporate line is you have to wear issue stuff, and you would have thought that they could assist people who do not feel 100%. At my place if you feel as though you will struggle to complete on time because you are under the weather but willing to work :wave - they give you a choice - work and complete it regardless or book sick. :speak to the hand
Therefore I will always go sick if I don't think I can complete without a struggle. Plus I got it in the neck the day before for spreading germs - can't win sometimes. :left: :left: :left:

PS: just read my post It sounds as if I am upset at your comment - actually I found it very funny but it let me get this off me chest so thanks. :Very Happy
