Test of duty

Just wondering whats the offical way to go about getting your duty tested......my duty has a new development on it.....460 houses, luckily only 40 are occupied....when i appoarched the line manager....he said he didnt have the hours to spare!!!!!!!!!!

this along with lapsing is taking me well over my 245pm finish time.

Well work to time , tell your lino that you are not prepared to work past your time . Two problems solved as they will have to do something if it is that bad and you go home on time

Just dont do the new development, simple.

Tried that on with me a couple of years ago so I just refused to have it on my fitting, told them its nothing to do with me as my walk has already been tested at 3.30, and if they wanted me to do it then I'd have to lose some.

After about 15 were built and people started moving in he took some off me to accomodate. Lost about as much as I gained so no harm done.

Thats rediculous. 460 houses is a whole walk. It doesn't matter how many are occupied, even unoccupied houses sometimes get mail, and they will be occupied at some point. Get hold of your manager and ask him what he's playing at. See your rep as well. They can't just stick that many houses on a walk. I kicked up a fuss when the walk I was doing at the time got two new houses, I got one taken off.

This is just an idea for any one of you that are having problems of this type,it is working in our office,dont work over your time,don't make the delivery your problem,explain quite clearly to your manager that you will not be working above your hours,if your manager tells you to take it all out ask him/her to put it down in writing and ask for it to be signed with his/her name,when your asked why just say you are protecting yourself against willfull delay,the manager will not do it they will give you a 1000 reasons why not!you will need to make it clear that you will only be able to bring back 16kg as that is the limit,you will need to be broad shouldered because some times the manager will get a little upset,try and get any other staff to do the same if they are fed up with it.Keep a diary if you get any problems and make sure the union know,they are now testing duty's in our office,so far the ones that have been tested are way over,just be strong.

Only your first bag should be 16Kg. Also, it's onlt 16 Kg until you take out a bundle. It gets lighter and lighter as you work. Carrying your last bag back...it'll stay at 11Kg or whatever so make sure it's light if you intend walking back to the DO.

16KG is our good will bit.then nobody can say we are being a pain,most of us that have had stuff to come back have had more than 1 bag its down to the member of staff one guy had 4 bags to come back he only bought 6kg back!

Walk in our office was tested and took almost 2hrs more than duty time. Guess what the postie does now.....................................LEAVES A LOT FOR THE MANAGER TO DO.
