Then surely Mail Centre staff cant be balloted for it, it has to be delivery staff only.

Whats the point of that then?
We do 40 hours now minus say 40mins times 5 days which is 2hrs 20mins which means a net hourage of 37hrs 40mins so (if it is going to be a 36hr week) we only get a weekly reduction of 1hr 40mins!!
It would just encourage those that don't take breaks now to run around even more!

Perhaps that's a good thing, perhaps it will stop people working through their break because they get paid. I actually do often work through my break, it's 20 minutes so I should finish at 0940, but because my relief doesn't start til 10 I stay til then, and sometimes beyond if they're a bit late, I'm always busy anyway so it's come and gone before I realise it - but if the pay stops, so will the goodwill. This then begs the question because I am part time and paid for the break, will my hours drop from 5 to 4.40?

I heard this information last night from a union rep who had attended a meeting yesterday afternoon. I, of course, cannot confirm its validity.

We currently work 36 hours 40 min and get paid for 40 hours. With this we work 36 hours and get paid for 36 hours......... So basically under this great new modern terms & conditions we work 40 mins less per week for 4 hours less pay! Am I missing something here....What is the point of this?...Even if they raised our pay by the amount of money we lose from unpaid meal releifs we still wouldn't gain anything.

Surely it must mean, we get the same basic pay as now for the 36 hours but as stated, wont be paid for meal reliefs. So your working day would be 7hrs 12mins without a break.

I would think that the number of DO staff round the country must be at least 25% more then the number of MC staff around the country.
