Wireless Door Bells

This is something I have noticed, that no doubt countless other posties will also have noticed. It is those wireless door bells, the ones with those little battery powered bell-pushes, they never seem to work!

They seem to be cropping up everywhere, and yet, none of them ever seem to work, at least on my round.

Because of this, whenever I press a doorbell (regardless of if it is wireless or not) I always listen for a sound, and if there is none, I knock, just to be sure.

It can be a bit of a pain, especially if you have a packet for them. Who else has noticed this, and what do you do?

I used to have a wire less door bell...and so did my next door neighbour. Every time some-one rang my bell my neighbour opened their door.

Ah yes, I often knock the glass as well, provides a louder knock usually.

I have one address that has 3 doorbells - and none of them work

I rang and knocked on a door once in a shitehole of an area before my transfer.The bloke came out looking like a right horrible smelly dirty git,and then he bollocked me for knocking and ringing,i tried to explain i didnt hear the bell so i knocked aswell and he wouldnt have any of it.Anyway he was proper sarcastic as i drove off but god was about to get his own back.I had a parcel for the same bloke came through on a saturday morning,so i went straight out at 6.45 and knocked the fat bastard up,but i threw a p739 through the door and legged it before he could get his mitts on the parcel.

A wireless doorbell on my delivery is on a flowerpot on the doorstep I knocked on a door once years ago, no answer...gave it a couple of minutes and I knocked again, this guy answered in very flustered state, just out of bed, he demanded to know why I had knocked on his door twice....I told him that I didn't know he was in...he said "You can see I'm in, my car is in the drive" I laughed and said ""Well my car is in my drive at home but I'm not in, I'm growing old on your doorstep waiting for you to answer the door" He demanded my badge number...I dropped the packet on his doorstep and walked away.
It turned out that the bloke was a transport manager who worked for RM, soon as I got back to my office I told my manager what happened, just to cover myself but he never did complain...was a bit surprised though, at christmas never got a tip

i have very bad hearing so i never ring the doorbell,
'cos i never know if it has rung, only ever knock on the door.
Then i get asked why i didn't ring the bell.
i always say cos most of 'em never work.
