Royal Mail Worst Company I've Worked For

I've been working for Royal Mail for a couple of months now, well about three, and I can honestly say it's the worst company I've ever worked for.

I know that new blokes like me comng in at the bottom can't expect to get the best jobs straight away, but bloody hell, theres no respite, I'm trudging the same pavements day after day, working to my time, and sometimes a bit over every bloody day, and my so called workmates fin dit great fun to laugh at me when they cycle past having finished their walks well ahead of time, now going back to the office to SO and FO, and when IO casually look at the finish time they put in lo and behold it's always bang on their due finish time, and when you challenge a Union Rep or a manager about it, they just shrug their shoulders. One bloke even said to me that as a floater he refuses to do my walk on my day off because he'd have to work to time!, that just about did it for me, Am I a mug or what.

it's about time the Union started to look after everyone, form those who have been with RM a month to those who have been with them donkeys years, RM are letting some get away with blue murder while others (mostly Part timers ) like myself are gettting s**t on from agreat height, i can think of no other workplace where the pracitce that Royal Mail and the Union have put together would be accepted, it's just diabolically Victorian and archaic.

The firdt thin gthey should do is introduce a tag system where by these Tw*ts on easy walks can be timed and watched by GPS, and then RM should think abotu paying people for the amount they deliver, not by the hour, then lets see who wants the walks that only take 1 hr to complete,

Royal Mail I'v had a guts full, Royal Maul I call it, and it's people like me who getting mauled, well I'm looking for another job, where I'm not treated like an idiot and expected to work for nothing.

No offence, but we all have good days and bad. Personally, i love my job. I enjoy the banter, the people i deliver to, and the fact that i get daily exercise every day is just one of the many added bonus`s. Yes, i know some others are worse off, and yes, some office`s and staff have many different situations, but how many people are unemployed? How many people cannot get a job?
I count myself lucky to have a job that pays for the roof over my head and fills my belly with food.
There is always someone worse off than you.........

Yep agree RM are the worst company i've worked for. The structure is wrong and the management is no existence, oh wait the bullying and harassment is just day to day RM working.

It will get easier if you stick at it.
If you’re prepping, you’ll get quicker at it. Once you been on the same duty for a fair few months you’ll find that you know the peoples’ names for each address. That will make you both quicker and more accurate.

Sure, you’re pounding the same pavements day in, day out, but that’s what we do. Some people want the chance of signing in to a regular duty others prefer to have the variety of working a number of different duties. Ask your line manager if you want to change.

It’s human nature to believe that the duty that you are on is the “hardest in the office”. Everyone feels this way about their duty but they can’t all be the worst! Geography and demographics make it virtually impossible to make all walks equal, however many revisions are undertaken.
Certainly the old stagers will have cherry-picked the duties to make sure that they’ve got the best that’s on offer but that’s inevitable. Don’t forget that they were once in the position that you now find yourself. They had to start too. They’ve done their ‘apprenticeship’, now they’re reaping the somewhat scant rewards.

In truth, it may well be that you’re on a tough ‘un but if you are finishing on time, or only slightly going over, then you haven’t got too much to complain about. The decision to go over is your choice. No one should be forcing you to do overtime.

You are not “working for nothing”. You are working for the salary, plus any overtime, that was offered to you when you joined, that hasn’t changed. Don’t let the green-eyed monster make you unhappy with your lot, there are a lot worse jobs out there and, yes believe me, a lot worse employers.

I hate my job, I hate having to do it, but do it I must. Royal Mail has become a terrible employer to work for. It hasn't an ounce of respect for it's workers, management isn't just Dickensian, they pre-date Dickens, they'd have us tramping the streets for 12hrs if they could, they believe they're employees are lazy, they're employees don't work hard enough, don't work fast enough. Our millionaire bosses also believe that the humble postie on around 20k a year, is overpaid, and underworked. Nothing is ever enough, letters makes it's first profit, around £50million, for decades, still not good enough, we must have less workers, and those few that are left, must shoulder an almighty burden.

Believe me, if they're were more jobs around, I'd be off like a shot, but as it is, in a land now bereft of any industry, I will soldier on, but it doesn't, and it sure as hell won't, get any easier. Progress isn't for postal workers, not in Britain, so it would seem.
