any1 know wat happens to spare door to door or stuff that fails, i have some old spare d2d in one of my boxes and i was wondering whether i should bother even returning it, is the stuff recycled ?

At my DO its noted from which walk and the reasons why it failed (excess, weather late arrival etc) and then returned to the Bundling centre with an official bag label. AFAIK its then returned to the originator or destroyed whatever the originator wants I think.

PS don't take any excess home or even think of destroying it yourself its a criminal act for which some have been dismissed and got themselves a criminal record for doing so.

And here's another question. hypothetical, of course. say you approach a house with mail inc. d2d. the house is empty, letterbox sealed. easy to kill off mail, just endorse it and put it in a post box. what do you do with the d2d? you can't endorse it and put it back through the system can you? and who's going to walk back to the DO for the sake of three failed d2ds? even though they tell you to treat it like an individual item of mail it wouldn't be taken seriously ... or would it?

you should have pouch bag to put any endorsed items in...just treat spare d2d's the same way

I always take loads on a monday and deliver to the addresses I'm going to only, making a note of the ones I miss. Come Tuesday I box in any that I didnt go to Monday that have mail, by Wednesday I have maybe a handful left and box in any that I missed the previous 2 days that have mail, on Thursday I do a sweep of whatever is left to deliver, whether they have mail or not.

Now some of you may think this is a bit of a f*** on, but having had quite a few systems for the d2d's in my time, I find this to be the best way of doing them. Obviously around 80% have to be put together on Monday morning which can be difficult.

And I take them home with me if I have any left over, and as I dont actually count them before I hit the streets on a monday this happens every week. Never had anything said to me about taking d2d's home, just letters/packets.

They won't say anything as they expect D2D material to be prepped outside of your normal hours - which is not the case at all when you read the D2D Agreement or read RM's own delivery model!

No, I prep them at work. What I mean is if I take out too many I just take em home in my bag and bring em in the next day.
