I am seriously thinking of finding another job, i only been a postie for 2 years, but I get the feeling I am not appreciated by the managers, and they seem to treat me like dirt, most of my duties, I complete, but as soon as I temp to cut off, they try their bully management tactics on me,make me feel guitly if I leave mail behind, yesterday and including my fellow posties, we were working past 5pm,I had over 11 bags of mail, was struggling to push my bike through the snow and ice, and the backlog of mail that is piling up, the weather is adding to the problems, but trying telling them that, and it goes through one ear and out the other, it like talking to a bloody brick wall it no wonder managers are not respected on here and in the work force, when they continue to treat us like dirt, well today I decided to cut off after yesterday, I wouldn't mine, but not a single thanks from them,like to say well done for doing all you can, but instead again they to choose play there silly games, like it your duty,its your customers, I told them no, actually its your responsiblity, I told them, it your sorting office, your staff, your the manager,isn't about time you starting act like one, at least the customers appreciated what I do, and some are amazed I am out on the bike, on my own with no help at all, I said that management for you

Love your response back to the manager! I normally look at them puzzled and say "Your not forcing me to work overtime are you, you do know that's illegal!

Can you be forced to work overtime, or stopped from doing so?
Your contract of employment should include the conditions for working overtime. You only have to work overtime if your contract says so.

Some managers are ok the ones we have at the moment are not all that bad to your face.
They freak if you say your cutting on your time only to get back after walking 5 hours through frozen slush and find they are went home nearly 2 hours before their own finish time.

I'm sorry you feel like this.
One of the biggest disappointments of the "interim agreement" has been the lack of action concerning B&H from management.
This was one of the major reasons we went on strike.
If anything B&H has INCREASED since the start of the "period of calm".
It would seem that lumpy carpet syndrome is alive and well at RM and CWU HQ.

He around but sometimes I feel they don't want to get involve, do you know I hear this all the time on here "Do your job properly, like finishing at your duty time, i keep telling the rest of the lads that have been there longer than me, why do we end up extending, we are not helping ourselves, the job has obviously got impossible to complete in 4 hours, especially if there is a backlog, lots of awkward parcels, only two pouche boxes, are we suppose to wave a bloody magic wand so that all our bags can fit in them you guys are right, we should cut off more, and let the managers deal with it, after all it is there job.

Cut off more, or enjoy the overtime if it's paid. It's your choice either way and the management will have to live with the particular choice you make that day.

Enjoy the power! If you cover yourself, and anyone who cut's off regularly becomes a marked man, you'll be fine.

Last week I threw a tantrum got put on a convey duty I have'nt done for years that has changed beyond all recognition, all the guys were ready to go and I still had to make a list of 40 specials/tracked aswell as the bag drops and he was trying to push me out the door saying do the list when you get out, had'nt had my break or anything. Boy did I lose it, now I'm sure they pull straws to see who has to come and talk to me The way they've treated everyone the past few weeks you are not the only one wanting to find other work.

your duty is to work 8 hrs a day they cant make you do more no matter what they say and the mind games they play. They dont try it with me because they know i know my stuff but people they consider to be pushovers they will try anything with. Stand up for yourself like you have been and they will back off, tell them you know there is nothing they can do aslong as your working your 8hrs a day.

EXACTLY how i feel too. same duration of employment too. i hate this job now and I used to love it, now I can hardly drag myself out of bed in the morning and am frequently late. luckily i haven't been pulled up about it YET but the managers have been giving me a wide berth since I filed a grievance in Oct and went off sick with stress after christmas. happy not getting hassled but its a shame because if they hadn't started bullying me I'd still be their 'ideal employee'. but you reap what you sow. too bad the management don't understand it. all too soon they'll be left with a bunch of total numnuts doing the job, all the smart, diligent, conscientious workers getting peed off and leaving
