Let's hear it for the rep

I would just like to say how much I appreciate CWU reps, especially area reps. I didn't realise until recently that whenever they go to represent someone they don't get paid any expenses.
Usually they have to drive to get there and if they are an area rep this could mean quite a lot of mileage.
The cost to them personally must be quite considerable.
So keep up the good work lads it's appreciated.

I've just been reading it in the conduct code that they don't get expenses, maybe they get expenses from the CWU pot and can't claim from Royal mail then.

I believe there is financial compensation (however you wish to classify the term) in the form of 'honorariums' for cwu officials. What it covers I am not sure, but I do remember seeing a topic elsewhere on honorariums as the cwu are looking to save costs and it is one area that is under consideration.

My branch has slashed the amount it pays out on honorariums.

Honorariums are a thankyou payment

I use the train and mountain bike to get to CWU meetings at the mail centre and the branch issues me a rail warrant and the train company use this to invoice the branch.

Guidelines that were unkown were revealed after I enquired as to why LP membership was not in the national rule book

How about overtime?
If an area rep goes away to represent soemone and spends more than eight hours there do they claim overtime from the business or do they get paid by the union or do they not get paid overtime at all?
