Off sick and told to go vist DOM

Just had a phone call from my line manager as I have been signed off by my doctor this week,and in my office theres 24 people off sick and we all have to go in to vist the DOM tomorrow morning or have our pay stopped!! As if we are fit enough to get to doctors we are fit enough to get to work!
When I asked if my DOM was more medical trained than my doctor and what the point was of it,I was just told its orders from above.

I have been off sick 3 months , now signed off for another 3 . My Dom sent me a letter last Wednesday to come in Friday for a meeting. Because of the snow, I could not get out to post a reply let alone go. On Friday I lost my voice , so could not ring in and say I would not be in. So I sent a email and it came back not known at this address, ops. So I texted my union rep to tell him. I`m now waiting to hear of a new date .

Well I have told him I have flu/chest infection,and can't walk let alone drive(to which I was told to get a lift of a collegue)But I then said if they want to see me me they know where I live and are more than welcome to come see how ill I am!
I also rang and spoke to my doctor who told me they are breaking the law by forcing you to vist them and by not doing so refusing to pay you.

Well some of these DIMS are absolute genius Not only do they excel at people management skills , how to manage a RM office efficiently, treat workers with dignity and respect and be your best buddy , they obviously are the countries lowest paid fully qualified doctors

No wonder the company is in the state it is in now, maybe a grievience procedure should be invoked against the muppet and ultimatly the chief of muppets above him/her and urgent communication to your local rep

I suspect this comes from the muppets of all muppets at the top, :cfo :mfo

He can't stop your pay,ignore that,flag it to your rep and area.

The fact you offered for them to come to you covers you as you were being helpfull and not just skiving or being arsey. Make sure your rep knows you offered this. Dont leave it too long though as they will stop your pay eventually , sick note or not

What do you mean they will stop your pay sick note or not? I thought 6 months full pay down to 6 months half pay over a four year period? Are you suggesting they can stop pay before this time? For what reasons?

Doesn't surprise me one bit, nothing they do would, but worries me as I'm having both my hips replaced in a fortnight and expect to need a bit of time off

I understand about the meetings with the DOM when on long term sick! But I do not agree or understand when I have been signed off for a week with flu/chest infection by my doctor for a week.Why do I have to stuggle out of my sick bed,and either drive when I dont feel Im fit enough to drive cause of feeling unbalanced,or get two buses meaning being stuck on a bus spreading my germs for at least hour and half to get there to show my DOM how sick I am!
As for the union well.....sorry but in my office they are just as the management,but a friend from work is gonna try and get hold of them tomorrow for me,for whatever good they will do!

2 days now until the letter is sent out and then it depends on what you AGM has be given instructions to do (or be given payment to do).

dont let them treat you like mugs, me personally would tell my DOM that him treating me this way has stressed me out and made me depressed so I will be going back to the doctors to get signed off longer because of his actions, you have to play them at their own game. Bullying me to go back to work has the opposite effect on me it just makes me stay off longer.

I had my sick pay stopped last week !!!

Had been off since begining of Dec with sprained and ligament damage to my ankle,had a sick note up till today(thurs 14/1).
But because i refused to go in last week on light dutys i got NO pay last week.

As soon as i made arrangments to go back in on light dutys(which i did on Tues) my DOM say my pay will be reinstated.

Ive not had a pay since dec 31 even though ive had sick notes covering me since beginning of Dec

Just hope i get payed tomorrow !!!

On a related note, I know someone who rang in sick on Saturday (genuine - not because he'd been out on the piss, as so often happens!) and got a phone call from the DOM early afternoon the same day asking how he was! What was she expecting - a miraculous recovery?

Interestingly, she rang his land-line, probably to make sure he hadn't gone away for the weekend. Which begs the question: If you don't have a phone upstairs and are in bed ill, so miss the DOM's call, how do you stand?
