Managers being demoted

Rang my union rep today about a meeting the Dom wanted with me last Fri , which I could not get to. He said the Dom has been busy having meetings with his line managers. Apparantly they are demoting them nationwide, two in my office have been demoted back to postman , one has been a line manager 10 years. All to do with their performance he said .

Good because quite frankly the ones in our office are shocking ,never solve problems ,get the face on if you stand up to them ,get vindictive etc

I thought it was only 'acting' managers that could be busted down to postman, pretty sure that a line manager has to leave the business for 2 years before he/she can go back on delivery? That's why we've got so many shite DIMS because they have to be dismissed and that isn't that easy!

They will all be demoted soon......if Royal Mail turn us over on this new modernisation agreement, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will turn their attention to their managerial "teams" and demote the vast majority to........wait for it.......TEAM LEADERS .....PAY CUT .....SUPERVISE A TEAM OF UNFORTUNATES .....DO A WALK ........FREE UNIFORM
Think about it, most of them are failed or useless ex-posties with meglamanic tendancies, so how will they cope having to do a walk or duty as well as bully fellow workers into reaching unattainable and unreasonable targets set by a central manager who stands to make enough money off their backs to fund his next cruise holiday?
Will be nice to see them having to endure the bull that they impose and that we have to put up with daily....ha haha

Sorry if this is a bit over the top, but I think this is a salient point that has been missed - we all want good mangers ( personally I don't care what they're like , as long as they are fair, and help me do my job, and a little mutual respect wouldn't hurt either ), but what we think defines "good management" could be a world away from what RM / Crozier / HM Govt agendas define "good management".

Don't know about deliveries, but we've had MC managers go back to OPG voluntarily or compulsory.

Don't know about deliveries, but we've had MC managers go back to OPG voluntarily or compulsory.

Voluntarily is the interesting bit - most firms are terrified of a twisted and bitter manager taking them to a Tribunal , RM has the same problems as most places , only taken to literal extremes . Maybe it's arguably cheaper to keep them on than send them to the RM giant gardening centre .

Leighton wanted appraisals but the CMA had it stopped , though it took them 18 months . Middle Managers are apparently on Fixed Term contracts .
