Jesus - that's disgusting - the arrogance displayed by some managers beggars belief ; you are always going to get low levels of corruption but some places thrive on their own corruption . It reminds me of the spivvy 90's :lfo :cfo :mfo
You could argue that RM are being unnecessarily obstructive . I sympathise as I've been too busy working shifts in a previous life to see paid union officers to deal with issues re a stitch up to impress .
The irony is that many supermarket magazines would jump at a chance to publish a story like that but RM are playing Shylock wanting their pound of flesh , the price of everything and the value of nothing .
A friend of a friend could leak it subject to legal restrictions . This all sounds like " Don't worry mate , we'll twist everything round and throw the postie to the Wolves , You won't be in front of the Beak , nothing will be in the local rag and you won't get any points/fine /ban and everything will stay within this building and we won't get any heat about the politics about using bikes etc " . " If he makes a issue of it , we'll make things difficult for him and close ranks " .
Therefore the only option is to call RM's bluff or even double bluff RM . If RM want to play the two or three card trick , join in the game of poker . An Industrial Tribunal would take a very dim view of unfair detriment for H&S concerns .

Brilliant story, my first impression is to get on to the union at branch level or CWU HQ, you know the usual channels. Management will feed you sh1t all the time, it's just the way they are. It was an accident on duty but for the immediate problem of getting a lift and getting time off start making waves with the union.
There has to be the usual warning with this post though, a lot of details making it easy for the Gestapo at RM to identify who wrote it and then threaten them.
Be careful with replies.

No I'm not being paranoid, they really are out to get me.

It would be great if this could be verified by witnesses etc, all of it. It would make a great case for victimisation.
RM management are like a pack of wolves, the leader says right today we are going to go after this postman and they all join in on the hunt, they don't ask why or if it is fair they just go along with it. I've seen and experienced this sort of gang culture and it's really ugly and frightening too.

yeah - " Boys Clubs " - one step up from The School Bully and his mates ? , however a lot of these places are usually the biggest playground in town , staff & management .La Poste wrote:It would be great if this could be verified by witnesses etc, all of it. I believe Tribunals are sticklers for consistency - RM may have a problem there .

It's a difficult question and it really needs someone from the CWU to answer it.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Anyways , on with the original subject here: Am I entitled to any help regarding my current problem (post1) . I need to get to the mail centre and cant get there, am I entitled to any help and is it worth pursuing given the details (again in post 1)
Cheers
Is there anyone from the CWU out there?

RM have always been like that - if another Party's insurers pay up - fine but if RM are at fault , they'll try and wear staff down .Doone wrote:Same happened to me Jim Carr, after 3 and a half ....and onto my fifth solicitor, same bull s**t you had......i asked them did,nt they keep files of my case, were i,d written as you did 20 + letters about the incident,( to be honest more like 50 letters), they started to get snotty, and twisting it all round to put the blame on me........gave up in the end,

Re: Meeting with Simpson Millar - advice
correct, make me think sometimes that these Simpson Millar solicitors are actually Royal Mail management, as iv started a claim against Royal Mail over a year back, done everything by the book, sent letter's evidance etc, even a statement from Royal Mail cluster manager admiting to my evidance, which Royal Mail denies, , also were the cluster manager contradicts another internal managements statement, (cant actually say what the claim is) you all know why,
but Simpson Millar has stated that the claim has less than a %50 of winning, so best of luck with them,

Decided to just go to the meeting - getting a lift there off my mate and then helping him do his round for a bit afterwards to make back his time. Last time im doing this for them - only keeping it going now tbh because I feel 100% that im in the right and I dont want that barsteward who ran me over to think by ignoring the letters he got away with it.
There`s a few at work who have had accidents and have fecked it off after being messed around by cwu solicitors - too much aggro .

Re: Meeting with Simpson Millar - advice
I'm told the No Win No Fee solicitors are keener than the likes of Simpson Miller to take a case on but as soon as RM or anyone else for that matter , put an "obstruction" in ; they are less keen to proceed .
I think ? these firms take on Insurance Policies against the possibility of losing a case . I think ? Simpson Miller have to pay Solicitors and Barristers bonuses as well as the customary fees if they win , but they'd be unable to attract legal beagles for weaker cases where they could easily be outgunned by RM .
You could argue that the CPS are often outgunned by Defence Barristers and Solicitors too .
RM can afford to play Trench Warfare with claims , the CWU can't , also it would suit RM if the CWU were financially weakened . Look at 2003 , the CWU were repudiating UIA , but RM were absolutely desperate to find evidence that unofficially the CWU were encouraging UIA .
Maybe the law is just an ass unless you're rich .

Re: Meeting with Simpson Millar - advice
I still don't know if Simpson Millar have taken on my claim or not, I signed all the contracts months ago and have heard nothing at all off them since, though I do get their newsletter
I'm seriously considering going to a No Win, No Fee solicitor.

Re: Meeting with Simpson Millar - advice
Lawyers in "no win, no fee" civil cases should no longer have a "success fee" paid by the defendants, but should get a share of damages, a review has said.
The system was not benefiting the public, with fees to lawyers sometimes more than 1,000% of damages.
But Steve Hynds, director of the Legal Action Group, warned reforms would make it harder for people to find legal representation.
"Solicitors are going to be more reluctant to take cases on - they already are, I think.
"They won't take a 50-50 case on; there needs to be a better chance than that to be worth taking the risk of taking the case on, particularly if you're relying on the damages to actually pay your success fee."
