Just a quick question at what point can a manager tell a postman not to wear shorts ? I know the weather is baltic but one of my guy's wears shorts all year round the manager is going to send him home if he wears his shorts again in this weather ... :silenced :silenced :silenced :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa :cuppa

No one wearing shorts in my office this past week, not because of the snow/temps but because the public were taking the piss out of the wearers.

It may be that the manager fancies the postie and the sight of him in shorts is just too much.
It happens a lot.

If he was to be sent home for wearing shorts (as long as they are Royal Mail shorts) then so be it but when it comes to stopping his pay for being sent home then the Manager will have a hard time doing that!! :no no

As said above, they are part of uniform, so they can't stop you wearing them if you want to. Although why anyone would want to in this weather...and yes, there are some in our office too. They just look stupid, tbh. I wear shorts once it's warm enough, probably May / June through to September / October. I wear my own shorts though, because I can't get RM ones that fit me They seem to assume that if you need a certain waist size, you need a correspondingly longer leg length... :d'oh!

Was in the courier a couple of months ago about brave posties in shorts and also doing it for charity,so yes,you can wear them anytime.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I wear mine most of the year, probably from Feb/March through to November, im just more comfortable working with shorts on.

Not sure why some of the people give so much stick to posties wearing shorts, people in my office do it most years (I did it last year) for various charities.

lol same here I'm only 5"8 orderd 36" waist tried them on and they looks like 3/4 trousers!! looked a right knob!! :left:

I normally wear shorts all year round. This is the first time I have stopped wearing them in winter and it's only because of injury.
Life's only rosey if you make it that way...... There is life outside of Royal Mail you know!

i always thought it had to be a certian temp then you could wear shorts

i wear them all year round and the managers dont say anything to me, I wouldnt have thought they can make you stop wearing them but who knows, i know people at other offices still wear them so what harm is it doing. They can't even provide me with the correct footwear so as if i would let them tell me I cant wear shorts.

Im the opposite, 6''1 with a 36 waist and mine look tiny :funneh
