Hi all,
sorry if this is going over old ground, but can somebody confirm for sure the stage 1 procedure.

I believe it is 4 absences and 14 days, but does this mean anything over 4 absences and/or over 14 days before a stage 1 is given or does it mean if you have at least 4 absences and/or actually 14 days sick then you will get a stage?

it means if u have 4 absences or 14 days you trigger a stage 1, so if you have 3 absences totaling 13 days you will be ok

Correct. You can have one absence of 14 days and will receive a warning.
4 one day absences, you'll receive a warning.
In my experience in our office stage one warnings are always issued. I hadnt been sick for 6 years, broke my collarbone, came back to work and received a warning.

12 months for a stage 1. Not sure if that is from the date of last sick day or date of stage issue.

It's not about getting it wrong, it's about you having a genuine illness after taking your 'extra couple of weeks holiday every year', then you get caught out!! Then who's the "numpty"?

Hasn't it occured to those of you who "play the system", that it makes things that much worse for the genuinely ill?
It's the minority of numpties, playing the system. That RM use as an excuse for putting so much pressure on those who really are to ill to go to work. Just ask anyone who's had any dealings with ATOS. Particularly the victims of AODs.

Didnt RM change the 14 days to 12 to try to prevent people taking a straight fortnight off???

I've no idea. But surely if they have changed it, they should have informed us, shouldn't they?
I've certainly not heard anything about it.

Well im afraid as from last year, I now find it acceptable to 'play the system' and you maight aswell take extra week off sick every now and then, as royal mail management shaft you even when you have a genuine illness (i.e-broken bone, never been off for 3years, then come back to work to be met with a stage 1 warning).

That kind of treatment is appaling, and now because ive been treated so badly by RM is why I always 'play the system' and have an extra week here or there 'holiday'.

..19 years, done it all right, worked away, last 2, i see it as extra paid holidays, and will do so until when ever,they have guidelines, you go to the wire with them,f**k, if i leave 1 letter in the frame, or finish a tiny bit early after leaving a cut in the frame, im out---so f**k them.
