Weight Loss & The Job
Just wondering how many of ya's have lost considerable amount of weight since youve started/over past year. I was doing well while unemployed losing 5 stone until I joined Royal Mail, thinking it would help me lose quicker cos of the walking, but have put ON weight - all I do when I get home is eat like a bastard! Well until now, im now trying to avoid it and diet and shift the extra pounds ive put on especially over the xmas period.
Any ex-overweight members used the job to their advantage to lose weight and what was best way to tackle it?

I was 92kg while on deliveries then spent a year in the callers office and ballooned up to 115kg. Got back on deliveries with the aim to lose weight and lost 7kg then was off sick of a few months and put 10kg on again :(. Back on Deliveries once again and have gotten down to 110kg and falling.

Re: Weight Loss & The Job
I was 15st when I started (I'm 6'4" so not that overweight) but I'm a bit of a lanky twat now, one year on at a shade under 13st. I also eat like a bastard but I eat properly, 3 substantial meals a day with loads of fruit and veg.Acca Dacca wrote:Just wondering how many of ya's have lost considerable amount of weight since youve started/over past year. Have you just started recently? You'll nearly always put weight on over Christmas unless you starve yourself; your body naturally stores fat when winter comes. Other than that just make sure you're not eating rubbish and you should start losing it once things warm up.

Re: Weight Loss & The Job
I'm the same... put on weight since i started this job due to "eating like a bastard" when i finish,
the only time i lose weight is when ive got 1-2 weeks off on annual leave and i get the chance to eat sensible, healthy meals.

The only weight loss I've noticed is that my wallet seems lighter this year with not having had a pay rise.

Re: Weight Loss & The Job
I've put on over 3 stone since i started.
Ok i was young when i started but :)
I have to eat while delivering to keep myself going.I'm too knackered to do much when i get in and your body just gets used to doing the round so it doesn't really count as exercise after a while.

Re: Weight Loss & The Job
Going off my office this seems a common trend in royal mail. I would say 80% of my office could be considered over weight, myself included. Started 9 years ago and weigh 3 stone heavier now. We have a delivery postman who uses a bike weighing in at 25stone+. He showed me a pic of him when he first started 22 years ago when he weighed 12 stone!!!
