I DONT REALLYT WANT TO HAVE TO GET UP AT 4 AM FOR 10 POUND ON TOP OF MY 150 QUID WEEKLY SUPER PAY.

I was up at 5am for my normal 7am start. Only just made it aswell. I would have loved to have taken half a walk out, and finished on time, but I'm PT too, so it was 3hrs overtime...whats that, £16 after tax? It's scandalous that we don't get time and a half.

I think it's fair enough that PT'ers get paid the standard rate upto 40 hours. What I don't think is right is that they take all of the most lucrative rates away (SA etc) first.

Why 40 hrs? Whats the significance of that? Why not 50 or 30 or 25, the contracted number of hours?

Most places have time and a half for all overtime over the contracted hours, except for sundays and bank hols, where it's double time, with possibly a lieu day as well.

Great, except it was "Voluntary" no o/t rate being offered.
Of course, this was made very clear AFTER we got in!

I agree with you Belial, and TBH if they where to pay the PTs extra for every hour worked over their time, then RM wouldn't be so quick to offer them PT hours for FT work.

Because 40 hours was always the full time "hours".

If it is that much of a problem maybe it should've been challenged over recent years as more part time duties have been implemented, but it hasn't has it?

"It's scandalous that we don't get time and a half." - Well, if every single one of us said we wouldn't do any overtime unless it was time and a half and stuck to it then maybe we just might be paid better, but if we all just accept basic rate for overtime, work through our breaks, use private cars on delivery or come in early then Royal Mail will continue exploiting us as the mugs we are, and we've only got ourselves to blame.

1st thing you see your pt workers in before you on ot
sad thing is these clowns dont realise they are eroding even their own terms and cond etc
rem all the hrs cut and saved in so called bonus schemes it was all ft hrs cut ask west of scotland
and senior mgmt how to run bogus bonus schemes
now how do we keep promise of full time work er we dont just ask ptrs to come in their desperate enough to do it
we even get them doing freebies i kid you not of coming in at say 5am before official start time of maybe 6 or 7
so mgmt will give them ot preference over others its like bogof at supers.
question i asked and its a good one
iknow ft staff are peed off with all the extra work
but how about asking your mgmt for your shot at coming in extra i know your ft
but point i made pt signed up to be pt with chance of ot SO DID WE
it is surely discrimination to give ot to only ptrs and leave out ft

in our office you had to box in pt roads as duty etc etc now
ptrs come in on ot box in whatever available ie roads they know making sure their own is completed in time
guess where we are stuck on ips all morn as obviously mail down ptrs cant do it dont know sorting
why do we not ft get in early to box roads etc
