Does anyone agree that senior managers, especially those that live in remote country villages, should "go the extra mile" and set an example by travelling into work instead of taking the cop out of "working from home."

They should experience the sort of dangers they expect their staff to face.

If a manager can drag his fat ar*e into work he will expect EVERYONE to make it.

They expect everyone to make it anyway. Our Ops manager stayed at home but gave a conference call to his managers telling them not to let anyone go home early.

The union should not have agreed to the "working from home" option in the severe weather policy as we don't have that option.

If a manager is injured on the way to work they should also get the privilege of being sent to ATOS to assess whether they are fit for work.

"Working from home" should not be allowed as this discriminates against staff whose job precludes them from working from home.

No. A manager is the least productive cog in the machine that is a DO. He does no sorting, he does no prepping, and he most certainly does not leave the warmth, comfort, and in these conditions, safety, of his office to do a delivery. I've heard that some offices can have four of these twerps at any one time.

To be able to "Work From Home" A H & S Risk Assessment has to be made, suitablity of workspace and the like.

How many "Stay at homes" have had this done? If not they would not be insured by the company they are working for.

My reasoning is this:

Senior management, including Old Street, are more likely than us to live in "nice" villages as they can afford the property there. These "nice" villages are more likely to be accessed by ungritted roads. If the option to work from home is removed, these managers will be forced to make the risky journey to work in the same way that we are. There are more of us but the managers' journey is riskier. The odds are probably about even on who will die first, a manager or a worker.

Management should not expect us to take risks that they are not prepared to take.

Our union should not have allowed them this loophole of working from home.
