Snow/ice grippers.

Along with one other member of staff I'm wearing German made ice grippers which fit over work shoes.I remember seeing Royal Mail ones(the packet was in old money !) which were held on by leather straps and had metal teeth .The last time I asked a manager about them they never got back to me.I haven't slipped over once since wearing mine but they come at a price-£20-£25

RM are meant to issue them to staff but they meant to be bulk ordered by the DOM, which ours didn't.

pity they didn't make them with shorter spikes.. those boots are only useful for serious ice climbing eg everest, andes. matterhorn.

I have been using Yaktrax Pro snow/ice grippers for the last three days and they are quite good. They have
metal coils (like springs) which fit onto the underside of your boot or shoe, and held on by rubber grips around
the boot/shoe and a velcro strap across.

They cost £19.99 plus £1.99 p&p. The standard Yaktrax Walker (without velcro strap) costs £15.99 - but some
people say they can come off without you realising it and get lost.

Mine are called Spiky plus , you can get them online and in some outdoors shops .The only surface I have found a bit problematical with them are the fake concrete driveways but to be fair I slip on those with RM magnums as well

I am still in trainers, my standard RM boots haven't arrived yet (4 months employed so far). Pathetic. Also pathetic to my mind is the fact I haven't delivered anything for three days where I am, it is treacherous on the pavements but I thought posties are supposed to get the mail through whatever e.g just saw a 1955 clip with a postman climbing over a snow drift with a bag to get mail delivered! Risk of being sued by one of our fellow workers I suppose, or is it a money saving technique by RM to keep us from claiming additional hours.

On the latter, been told that the hours we owe after not delivering must be worked back for nowt.

erm, theantislips look good.. isn't it a bit ironic? if you buy them, it says up to 2 weeks for delivery, which the snow and ice been thawed by then.. after making the purchase, who delivers them? i can imagine they would be sent by, erm, through the post?
