Black ice/snow slip

Had a bit of a slip yesterday, black ice, unseen. Recently back from AOD-lite duties, and put onto 500 house ungritted round.
Few small slips were ok, but later on bigger one did me in. Pain etc. Finished round and did partial collection. ( Bloody hero me... Bloody idiot more like!)
Didn't report it on return, no one there except P/Timer in PHG.
Pain o/night, painkillers etc. Phoned 1 hr before start, said I'd struggle in snow today.
Met manager am, gave me different indoor duties, collection etc.
Called me in at lunch time, laid into me for "messing up Fridays staffing!"
I said I wanted to record on ERICA the incident, was refused point-blank, told I'd "left it too late!"
I said there was 3 yrs to report it, no one in authority to access ERICA on return, phoned at earliest opportunity.
Added they were probably dismissing H+S rules/regs, DWP/DSS laws of Employment.
Reply was "Royal Mail are different..." What the Hell does that mean?!
Said, I was probably "unable" top be a Postman. This year I've done rurals/town walks, parcels, Specials, collections, PHG,
callers/phone calls, prepped rounds, done the HUB etc...

Anyway, e-mailed office Rep/Reg. Rep tonite will the full picture, as I'm not happy at all.
Arrogant, ignorant of the correct procedures and dismissive of the incident are my main complaints.
Anyone got any similar idiots they work for?

Nothing wrong with giving the HSE a quick ring and seek their knowledgeable advice about your manager refusing to enter it on the ERICA system.

I think it's three years, read it somewhere,got told it too, but bow to your knowledge if I'm wrong.
Had an aggressive Dog Attack which was reported 6 months later - long story! - and nice DSS/DWP lady gave me the 3 years info.
Management "reluctantly" agreed to report it and ERICA it, and DSS/DWP confirmed is was "Industrial injury on duty."

Clearly the brother has got confused with this:
For most personal injury cases, there is a time limit within which any claim for compensation must be brought. This is known as the limitation period. For those over the age of eighteen, this period is three years from the date of the accident (or date that an industrial disease was diagnosed). For children the three year period begins on the date of their eighteenth birthday.

Report it to the DHSS as a Industrial Accident / Injury - He can argue the toss with them then & Simpson & Miller and there will be a paper trail in Black & White .

Checked the HSW website.It say's anyone off for over 3 days or having to alter their normal working practice due to an injury, HAS to be reported to the enforcing authority.
You are given 6 months to 3 years to report it, depending on the circumstances, I belive, under the RIDDOR 1995 laws.
But...the way I read it, Employer has 10 days to report it to HS Executive/under RIDDOR.
( You can report it Online yourself, but don't know if RM would get a copy. Probably say they never received it in the POST, lol !!!)

So, Big Boss not complying with a Legal requirement by refusing a verbal request x 2 to use the ERICA system recently.
So, I'm typing up a Formal Written request soon, and sending copies to Big Boss, their Big Boss and CWU reps.
I'll include the above info, and I can't wait to see how they wriggle out of this one...

i too have had a manager say to me that health and safety dont have anything to do with royal mail, i said are you for real health and safety are a national body to which his reply was nothing, and he walked out of the office. This is also the same manager who is constantly refusing to log accidents. we have reported this to our union.

The HSE are monitoring RM as though RM's policy is apparently good on paper - the compliance is very poor and there's all this nonsense about accidents becoming " incidents " etc to massage the figures

One guy came on here saying he'd worked in the Insurance Industry on accident claims saying he'd never heard so much rubbish in his life .

I took phone photo of accident site next day, even tho ice/snow was melting, it shows poor road/pavement conditions.
As a former H+S "appointed persons" cert holder, I'm a bit more "switched on" than Managers.
I also teach a type of outdoor activities, where Risk and Hazard Assessments are vital, so I'm not as dumb as they think!

Just can't wait to see what reasons were give to have refused my 2 - 3 verbal requests for Erica recording.
Wonder if HSE would be interested too? Maybe jiggling the figures is RM systemic/historical "POOR" practice?

Gave in letter quoting HSE site re RIDDOR, reporting AOD etc.Negative attitude on it being received, but No reply as yet.
Spoke to HSE Adviceline today, nice lady couldn't understand the "too late" statement at all!
Said, tell Manager to ring me and I'll put her straight, LOL!
