Fair do's to my DOM

Post by mclovin »

Credit where its due, I slipped over Christmas down some steps taking the person inf ront of me down, they fell right on my knee when my leg was at an angle causing ligament damage. He's been great, covering my flats while I have done the houses. Next week will be the third week Ive had help.

So for that I got to say thanks to the guy.

If you damaged knee ligaments i'm surprised your doctor allowed you to continue working especially on delivery. :hmmmm

At first it was really tough, particularly changing direction but I had it well strapped up.

Is much better now but still not 100%.

I didnt go to the docs.

I know rest is probably whats best, but Ive seen people get knee injuries and, after long lay off doing nothing, get lazy and the knee never fully heals.

I just want to make sure I rest it but keep it somewhat active, actually if I dont move for a while it stiffens and gets painful for a bit.

I'd rather be at home on the couch than work indoors. Couldnt think of anything worse.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Not to be nasty but personally i think ure crazy or a bit thick, its easy to cause more damage to yourself and your dom must be helping u so u dont go sick, id have a week of rest but include some exercise -non strenuous then go back in when i feel fully comfortable to do the job right! at 1st i thought u were winding us up!

Some advice with knee injuries although it's probably too late.

"It is important not to resume strenuous exercise until the knee is no longer sore and it feels completely stable."

And am i going to give your manager a round of applause for encouraging you to put your long term health at risk. :whistle

its just not worth risking ure health and fitness. they dont care if it gets worse and if u end up causing more damage it'll be harassment and arguing with their so called specialists.

Its been a year next week since I went over on the snow/ice and done the muscle in on my thigh/knee, I have had 10 days off in total 7 + 3 because of the injury which is obviously not enough as I'm still in pain and having physio. You must be mad to carry on working and not letting your leg recover as you will pay the price in the long run and I'm sure your DOM won't be out on delivery with you in the coming months!
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

Like I say, the pain is in the back of my knee and is getting better with time, I could barely move it at the time or for a few days after. Although a visit to the docs is a must really, just to be sure.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one
