Halfords sale is only the cheap Apollo bikes, i've been saving my LOC for ages waiting for the sale and none of the good bikes are in it!

In order to qualify for the tax-benefits of Cycle2Work, you're technically agreeing to a salary reduction rather than a deduction, although in practice this distinction is not normally worth worrying about.

I was also supplied with that list by the helpful Cycle2Work team but i would like to point out that the list is not definitive and some of the manufacturers listed do not supply bikes under £500 which is the limit Royal Mail have set. I used the scheme two years ago and wanted a Felt bike who are not on the list, i phoned the team and they were able to source one for me so if you see a bike not on the list phone them and they may be able to help.

I think the scheme is good but there are few annoying things. The £500 limit set by Royal Mail is too low for keen cyclists (yes i know lots would never dream of spending that much) and Royal Mail's scheme will not let you top it up with your own money. Not sure how long the scheme has been running but bike prices have increased, (the bike i bought two years back has increased by £80) but the scheme has not been adjusted accordingly.

The scheme vouchers go up in £25 increments and the process of getting the voucher takes a while which can result in you losing out. See a bike for £199 and order a voucher for £200, while waiting for the voucher the price drops to £170, your only options are to return the voucher and reapply for a £175 voucher or use the remaining £25 on accessories which you already get 10% of the value of your voucher free anyway. The last bike i looked at on the Halfords website changed prices four times in three months!

I can see why Royal Mail would choose Halfords to run their scheme but it is annoying to see other schemes offering better deals

I wonder if the scheme is having an overhaul while it's offline? I bought my current bike second hand because in my opinion it was better value but if there were a few adjustments i'd definitely use it again.

Oh and to answer a previous poster i received a letter from Royal Mail a couple of weeks before my last payment telling me my final payment date and my wage deductions stopped on the correct date.
