Xmas Traffic Volumes.

Does any one hae any accurate figures official or otherwise on Xmas Volume.
To me their was a big increase in Cards compared to previous years.
their was definatley a massive increase in packets,and can only guess Playit .com and Amozon had a record end of year sale ,last year we averaged 2 packet bags a day this year
4 bags aday ,so this is a massive increase,even today we saw a higher volume than this time last year.

To be honest with you I would say it was the easiest xmas i have ever had!!! Cards were down without a doubt! In the past we have been on the ips until 10am and thats with nights! This year no night and off the IPS by 8.10 everyday. In my office we were all waiting for it to get busy but it never did. Ok we had more packets and that but nothing serious. Not one day did I go over my time! Previous years I have been out till gone 5pm!!

Packets and parcels up massively in our office, it was unreal! Cards about the same as every year...loads.

Packets were bad but by the time I'd gone through my packet bags I would find that a lot of the packets were for the same houses so i could bundle them up and give them to a driver.

Massive increase in cards and packets were beyond a joke, when asked for a hand were told get on with it its xmas.

Cards where up but more of them came down walksorted this year so that meant less time on IPS but packets where massively up, every morning I went in I was met with a full york (sometimes more) and a couple of bags and that was before I even started. My duty wasn't the only one like that either but then we have a lot of rurals

Very busy for us, 2 to 3 packet bags a day until the light bulbs came and this pushed it up to around 5 bags with light bulbs plus 2 to 3 bags with packets. Sorted to 9am-9:30am everyday cos they couldn't cope with all the cut off and thats with nights on. So it was a really chaotic unorganised christmas for us and not a christmas trimming up in sight, pretty disgusting!

I reckon card traffic was down atleast 15%-20% with packet traffic up around 10%-15% on last year.

I think that SD volume was down, Tracked was quite busy, probably many firms moved from SD to tracked.

Yes, strange that, SD advertised on postmaks through December but fewer than last year and no 9 o'clockers for quite a while now.

New years Eve ,I had 6 bags ,full of Catalogues and packets ,never had 6 bags at any time before,and that was a push ,came close to being 7 bags .
yet still more catalogues waiting to be sorted in our office,Volume in our office is way up unless we just think it is ,quite a few mech bundles as well.
