Surely going out in these icy conditions is a big health and safety issue? Walked 4 hours ,fell 3 times one landed on my right knee .Everyone (the public) are walking on the roads as its impossible to walk on the pavements as they are just sheets of ice,yet were expected to carry a heavy bag around for 4 hours with a big risk of badly injuring ourselves .They go on n on about health n safety in the office but change there mind for us outdoors! What if we refused to go out in these conditions???? A disgrace!

You don't have to go out if you consider the conditions to be unsafe. It is your managers job to ensure your health and safety but if he does not then you must make your own mind up.

Quite a lot of our office refused to go out today due to ice....including the job I'm on tomorrow!

They put the mail back in the frames for tomorrow and sorted the lightbulb/mailsort mountain instead

The usual get-out clause is "don't deliver to an address if you consider it dangerous"
Now it's entirely your responsibility.

And if you take the decision not to go out you may be told that you won't be paid for the the whole day despite having done several hours indoor work already.

Health and Safety is what managers use to hide behind. If you have an accident they will always try to make it your fault. That is why they tell you not to take any risks, then jump on you for bringing mail back/cutting off or claiming ot, cause you did not have an incident

Just work to your time, take your time on the roads, cut off if you have too. Your probably get a interview but they can't do nowt about it. If they don't pay you get straight onto your rep. If this ever happened to me i'd take them to court, breach of contract. And look for a nice handsome reward

One guy fell whilst out on delivery 2-day, no sure how badly hurt he was but his other 3 bags of mail were brought back to the office. poor lad

Fell 3 times the day near killed myself but hey its worth the £30 odd quid for the 4 hours n bit ,,isnt it!!??? Great when the management say over the tanoy ,,now be careful out there dont want any accidents do we.
