So the CWU and RM agree longer delivery spans than the 3.5 h+ at present.
This will safe guard full time jobs ,at what price ?

RM are introducing in Jan regardless of CWU longer walks based upon 2 men and a Van.
Each van will come equiped with a Golf stlye trolley to take the weight off your shoulders.
This is 1 small step in the right direction taking the weight off your shoulders.

Most People who have been in the job for 18 months or so are suffering either occasional health problems and some more permanent problems.
How many people including your self are suffering 1 type of problem or another.Back ,neck ,Knee, ankle foot problems, are the physical problems caused by the job.

Then you could look at the phsyocoligal problems caused by the job, stress caused by local Managers with threats if you are unable to complete your round,
Attacks upon staff either directly or perceived such as being followed by 2 likely lads or more on your round, possibly seeking a momment to strike.

Being worried about being officialy cautioned by the Police for dropping a red elastic band that snapped because it is so poor qualtity and you have so many letters in your hand picking it up is very difficult, but you are a crimminal up their with robbers etc,

Being outside in Sub zero conditions, without being given proper clothing or not being able to take a brake and warm up,I am sure their are Health and saftey rules that govern working in a cold store, what about sub zero condtions hours on end without toilet facilities or somewhere to get a hot drink or time to drink such.

Peer preasure,if you are all on a crew bus and you are not as fast as the others either on prep or delivery again can lead to intimidation.
Many staff do not have a proper brake as the work ,would not ge done and then they are in trouble with the Manager=stress.

These are all things that are happening on a daily basis across the Country to CWU members daily-now

How many 40+ Posties can honestly say who do a fulltime walk at present 5 days a week are physicaly capabale of doing a substantialy longer walk.
If a Royal Marine fitness instrutor Age 32 cannot do a round on time just delivering leaflets, and then says he would not want to do this 5 days a week every week ,what are we supposed to do.?

Posties are Pounding the streets ,ie Tarmac and hard surfaces daily,I understand In many cases injuries occur over time, by the constant pounding on the hard pavement. The repetitive movement creates stress on the knee joint, and eventually the pain develops.

Whist the CWU is following orders from RM and The Labour party ,its members are suffering.

Before any longer walks are introduced a independent study by Qualified medical experts should be undertaken to look at the present arrangements and to see what impact a sunstantial amount of extra pounding the streets would have?

or will RM not allow the CWU to do such a thing?
The truth is out their!

How can 2 people use 1 trolley? Surely that means 1 of the persons in the van will still have to carry bags around.

I don't carry much weight as i have a lot of nicely placed bag drops.
Thursday and friday my feet are usually aching and i get cramps and all the other crap we suffer.I get backache in the middle of my back. This is probably due to looking down at the bundle a lot.Back ache isn't going to go away by using trolleys or vans.
If walks go over 4 hours i fear i may have to call it a day.
People may lose jobs or get hours cut if we don't do longer delivery spans but how many people physically wont be able to do the job anymore.I would think plenty.
But RM just want young fast workers who they can bully and make run round,so they can make even more money.

Your right they dont care, even on Christmas Eve, with Paths like ice rinks and gradually thawing making things worst, we were clobbered with Sky Magazines. We asked if they had to be delivered and the answer was yes. Now why can these not be delivered next Tuesday as they cover January,s t/v. The decisions made by some managers beggar belief. Not a hint of compassion or concern over the welfare of the staff. Its about time our Health and Safety Exec took them in hand and point out in no uncertain terms, that they have a duty of care for the staff they manage.

I've only been back in this job for 7 years, so far I've had carpel tunnel syndrome possibly caused by carrying bundles of letters in my hand, injured the muscles in my leg because of an AOD, both my knees are knackered and need regular physiotherapy and had depression from working in Callers. I am hoping they pay me off, I'll go for 10k :pray
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet
Keep on shuf-shuf-shuffling to this ghost dance beat
Just keep on walking down never ending streets

well we have this in our office now
so golf trolley? thrown away first day as its all stairs
park and loop? cant be done as theres no parking
so i get a larger duty, have to move the van around what spaces there are(can only leave it for an hour max in any space)
plus i have to take the van back to the office every day over finishing on the street
so i now carry more on a larger duty.aye its great
im getting a stage 3 and actually dont care if/when i am sacked!
