RM Footwear...again

Been told theres no footwear available till end of february. Everything is out of stock.

Im currently wearing my own pair of shoes of which the soles are about to wear out.

Am i liable if i have an accident on delivery?

What happens when my shoes wear out? I dont have another pair.

Footwear is the most important of all royal mail uniform, If they are not isssuing shoes due to budgets it's very wrong.

Ask your DOM for £50 to buy a a pair of shoes.It is what they give to people who can't wear RM issue shoes for whatever reason, and it is what I was offered a couple of years ago when shoes were out of stock.
RM issue shoes are apparently so important that we were all issued a new pair a year ago whether we wanted or needed them.

I'd have to use my own time to go and buy them. Something I dont have much of these days.

Well you could always buy them online.It would only take minutes.
Sometimes on e-bay they have old stock RM shoes for about £20.
You get a decent pair of shoes to work in and you are £30 up on the deal.

ive just ordered my second pair of CAT shoes and been told it will be mid feb for delivery. Luckily these ones should still be nearly in one piece by then I was planning ahead based on the wear rate of the previous couple of months and the fact that stitching is starting to come apart slightly. If they dont arrive i'll revert to my own Merrell's which they forbid me from wearing as they are to good for the job (Good grip, comfortable and waterproof)!

Clear this with your DOM first but ours once told us go out get some adequate foot wear keep the receipt and he would refund you .cant remember if anyone did do it as it was many years ago.

Ive had a pair of CAT trainers on order since august got my DM boots ok which took 6 weeks to bed in they were buggers.

Received my CAT boots this morning, I felt alot safer wearing those in the snow/ice today. I've had CAT trainers a couple of months now but they arn't waterproof and noticed the soles have worn so much there is'nt much grip left on them.

How come so many of you have two pairs? A pair of docs and a pair of Cat trainers, a pair of Cat trainers and Cat boots. . . I thought we were only allowed one pair every two years, unless they wore out, in which case you had to show them to your DOM and he'd see they got replaced.

I guess cos the CAT shoes ain't waterproof for a start. I still sneak my own shoes on still when out on delivery as soon as it rains.

In the same ay that we have appropriate garments for different seasons - we should have appropriate shoes :)

When some years ago we had choices of Clarkes and Doc Martens we all ordered boots and shoes at the same time once a year and wore whatever suited the weather conditions on the day. I love the DM boots, after a few weeks of wearing in they are extremely comfortable but I wouldn't like them much on scorching pavements in july. No company makes a shoe or boot that will last 12 months of the outdoor work we do - and what do you do if they get a real soaking, wear them wet for a few days?

We should have two pairs in good condition at any one time - you know it makes sense.
