Rest days on public holidays.

Is it me, or do people who work normal days (mon-fri) think we're stupid and dont know our own job.

I was talking to a person, and i was saying that my rest day falls on xmas day, so i get that day back, to take off when i like.

The offending person then said i dont, coz i have the bank holiday off, or boxing day 2, as its known. And that day back will be used for that.

I nearly had a stand up fight with this person coz he was making me think i dont know what im on about.

Can someone clear this up.

some eployers take bank holidays out of your annual leave, so we are lucky cos royal mail dont and they even give us a day back if its our rest day.

I find it almost laughable that there were 4 days that I could be given my rest day this week, but it's on the Saturday, day after Christmas.
Out of 10 reliefs, 7 have their rest day during the week, the other 3 are working all week until the Friday...

Been told we wont get another day in return, so tough, as it's a "non-delivery" day. ( Ok, what if I insisted that I go in on the Saturday to do indoor work?)
They want Goodwill from us, but would it REALLY matter if all 10 had their rest day off during this week. Me thinks not!

If your day off is Xmas day of course you get a lieu day back for it.

If, like me, your day off is boxing day (Saturday) then you don't get a day back and everyone else gets 2 days off this week and you get 1.
