hi all just a quick question

the hat above in the link

are we allowed to wear these out on delivery.

just curious ive been told you can get sacked and i thought wow that's a bit crazy ?

Why not wear one, after all we deliver christmas for the masses, xmas cards, prezzies, a cheery smile.

it was last year i was going to wear one and i got told whoooo no its a sack able offence and from then on ive never thought until now.

sackable offence???? for what?? cant see it being a problem. A bloke in my office wore a full santa suit a few years ago!

easier to wear on a van or trolley duty of course .. carries a certain risk if you are cycling though. Whilst sacking is an option for not wearing a cycle helmet, to be dismissed first-up would be harsh and against the spirit of christmas, methinks

All they could possibly do you for is not wearing correct uniform which is NOT a sackable offence, its not even conduct code but seen as though they dont provide you with a warm hat there is no problem. As long as its not got a logo on it and its none offensive it'll be fine.

There was a postie raising money for a charity last week and he wore a complete santa outfit out on delivery. He had to get permission to wear it, so I would assume they'd do that for the hat as well.

You can wear a santa costume, but for H&S, it must be hi-viz:

I wear a black furry Russian army hat complete with badge when it's cold- flat hat when it's not. Never had a problem with it not being uniform issue. Mind you most of my uniform went out of date about 15 years ago. I ain't walking round looking like a replica Yank for anyone
