christmas bonus or nothing

Hello could someone in the know please give us some info on this subject

boys on 1 hr contracts and 20 hr contracts today got a shock when opening their payslips


boys on 1 hr contracts got nothing
boys on 20 hr contracts only got 50 quid
even though they have all been working over 40 hrs for the last few weeks

manager says it is down to the fact that their contract hrs did not change ------ they are not entitled to it

i thought it was based on hrs worked during xmas pressure period (month of december)

any help greatly welcomed

I'm sure the last few years if you worked full-time you got the full bonus. I could be wrong. It doesn't surprise me that RM have done this.

You need to be contracted 40Hrs to receive the bonus, not fair but that's exactly how it is. Overtime does not count at all.

It's also been like this for a few years as well, it's not something they have just done.
Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.

Hmmm we have a 18 hour part timer who is working full time over christmas and got the full bonus
at the DOMs discretion maybe?

Based on contracted hours as a rule but can be over ruled by DOM. my fist christmas I got full 100 as worked full time during pressure period and most times every other week. When i started to cut off all the time didn't get if last year so don't expect anything other than prorata per contract now.
Life's only rosey if you make it that way...... There is life outside of Royal Mail you know!

In my office I always push for temporary full time contracts during Xmas pressure for our part timers, that way they get the full £100. :nana

Yes, argued the same for p/timers (mostly 30hr) at my DO .. if they do the full 40 hours over the xmas pressure period they will receive 100 percent bonus. We will see if DIM DOM is as good as his word .. smiles

Christmas Suplement
The existing Christmas supplement will continue at its current value (between £42 and £100 maximum, pro-rata to conditioned hours) for all employees, but the payment date will be moved earlier than currently to the last payment date before Christmas each December.
Eligibility will be linked to paid employment across the four week December bonus period used for PBS.From December 2001 the minimum full-time supplement will increase to £60
