GETTING TOUGH WITH CUSTOMERS
The time and money wasted by badly addressed mail must run to many millions.
A few simple compulsory requirements would make all the difference.
After 30 years of the postcode a brutal reminder is needed.
RM, Postcom, Postwatch and any other regulators & consumer bodies would surely see the advantages.
1. MUST HAVE THE POSTCODE.
2. MUST HAVE SENDERS NAME & ADDRESS WITH POSTCODE.
3. ADDRESS ( IN CAPITALS ) ON A WHITE BACKGROUND ( COLOURED ENVELOPES SHOULD HAVE A WHITE ADDRESS BOX.
4. A MINIMUM SIZE OF ENVELOPE ( THAT DOESN'T GET LOST IN THE FRAME, FALL OUT OF BUNDLES, CAN FIT ADDRESS & A STAMP! & MACHINEABLE )
5. CORRECT POSTAGE FOR SIZE & WEIGHT.
6. PROPERLY WRAPPED PARCELS ( NO NEWSPAPER or GIFTWRAP ) AND PREFERABLY WATER RESISTANT.
7. NO FREE RE-DIRECTIONS.
Improvments and comments!

The US insist on return address or it doesn't go anywhere - problem is that a lot of junk mail doesn't have themaxeman wrote:Backside , arse. through

I wish it was just the post code missing. The public are lazy b@stards just thow a few names/streets on the envelope and the stupid/lazy postie will sort it out.

Re: GETTING TOUGH WITH CUSTOMERS
I've said this in other threads but I don't have time to do my own job most days so am sure not doing the customers. If it doesn't have a numer and street it gets killed off end of. I no longer search the frame for names when numbers or street names are missing. And if there's no return address tough s**t. If the sender cared that much they would have addressed it properly in the first place.

Actually came across more than a few letters that simply said ''Mum and Dad'' or ''Mr Findlay'' on em - and they expected em to be delivered?
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: GETTING TOUGH WITH CUSTOMERS
all ineptly mail would be justified to kill off or RTS. my view is that if i have time to search for something i will, if not just leave it til i do. think its good to try, try and stay a public service

Re: GETTING TOUGH WITH CUSTOMERS
If i phone someone and use the wrong number i don't get my call diverted to the correct number for free, if i want someones number i get charged for using 118 so why are we expected to provide this service for nothing?
If were loosing all this money then lets charge for everything we can aswell as selling advertising space on the vans which would be money for nothing.

too bloody right I do. Now I'm not taking the morale ground it's just that we are employees therefore we has rules to follow and that's all I'm doing. We don't have to agree with them to follow them as it's our job you take the money so why not do your job properly.lekker wrote:I bet you blokes charge slightly oversized Xmas cards too

I think Christmas is our finest hour really. How many cards does our local knowledge save from being killed off. Things like “the house near the corner with the blue front door” and it still gets delivered without delay.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........

i think it makes life more interesting. i like a challenge. plus it means you can stand and stare at it for a while
then wander around the office trying to find out if anyone might know where its going
that way you're working, not faffing about

Re: GETTING TOUGH WITH CUSTOMERS
I don't mind those ones, you have a chance, but the ones that say A Smith 13 The Street, when you know fine well that the Jones' live there. You can't kill it off, so you have to post it, knowing that the Jones' will be saying look at that, postmans fault again, Royal Mail these days eh? It comes back the next day return to sender...so you kill it off, only to find out that A Smith lives at 14 The Close. Really, people should take more care. I'm sure they don't send a single letter for 11 months, then at Christmas struggle to understand the basic principle of an 'address'.krussel wrote: How many cards does our local knowledge save from being killed off.
