Same here, theyre still running to their cars as soon as right of way is called and yet a neighbouring office is sacking people for using them

The offices were people are still using using there cars and rushing about need to have an office meeting called by the rep outside of working hours.

You then do what we did during 4 days of un-offical action and have a vote on doing the job properly.

Why in these offices is the rep not having words , it is also the responsability of every CWU member to be having words with these individuals it is not the sole responsability of the rep.

By doing the job properly we had EXE action reversed and ended up with walks getting put back in .Im still baffled to the attitude of certain offices especially in the present climate do they not understand the implications of there actions .They are just a bunch of selfish twats who only care about them selves. Dont worry by the time FEB comes they will realise the error of there ways but by then it will be to late.

The me me brigade feck off and get a life and do the job properly and protect what you currently have.

If only it were that easy. Our reps have had words with the 'me me brigade'. Has have loyal CWU members such as myself and others. it has had little effect though. You can bring a runner to order but you cant make him think.

Thorb you can if you have a vote on it and the vote is passed in favour by the whole office then everyone knows were they stand.

Everyone voted in favour in our office we had one person who persisted in using there cars everytime the rep had a word and was told "ok i will stop using it tomorrow i promise" .In the end the rep lost patience with the constant lies from this person ,like the rest of the office did and informed them that they would no longer represent them but if needed would give them the number of the area rep. He did inform the area rep of this decision and now this person is looking at a stage 3.

Before we had the vote many many people were using there cars in our office it was not just a small number if the rest could stop why couldnt this person. It was because they were selfish and didnt give a toss,we lost 4 days pay and were united as one now and we will remind people it was not in vain if needed.

Do not think for one minute that as an office you can not combat this problem ,you need everyone on board you have to push for this vote/meeting.

Our area rep was present when ours was done and after wards commented to us that it was one of the best debates he has ever sat in on . It is an opportunity for all to air there views on the problems your office is experiencing due to people using there cars and rushing about. By the sounds of it you and your rep could put this point across on the damaging effects these actions are having very well. Unless you try buddy you will never know dont live in a world of IFS and BUTS, at least think to yourself "well i tried"

I congratulate you on getting your office united,as i know from experience how difficult it can be.
I am sure our office is no different from any other in the country, we have our share of runners and early starters.
I can assure you i have tried every avenue to get these people to do the job properly.
The stock answer is i need to rush as i need to do docket.
Although i would always advocate doing things the right way,how do ask someone to stop the overtime?
None of us do this job for the love, and all the time we get paid what in reality is a pisspoor wage, we will always struggle
to get these people on board.

Bex although i can see your point of view here i shall chose to disagree with you,only down to the fact that i speak from experinece and with a little push here and there it is possible to bring people around to doing things the right way.

We have not stopped anyone doing docket and never will techincally docket is to be done once your duty has finished this is why its called over time as you go over your time by doing it for extra pay ( Please dont think im treating you like an idiot explaining that as im not im just trying to explain as best i can).

I know from past experince that docket was done in your duty time and then it gave you the rest of the day to yourself ,plus the extra in your wage packet but those days are gone m8 and everyone needs to realise this.

Now im not knocking P/T here and i honestly feel the contracts you lads are on are disgusting as you virtually do the same as a F/T but its the P/T we have to have words with the most in our office. When looking at it they could have the most to gain in money terms as everyday they would be booking docket .

It really is time now people stopped using the encyclopedia of excuses as to why there not doing the job properly as it doesnt wash anymore.

Monkey boy, sorry to state the obvious - but a little reminder for all FT can't hurt to help them understand the position....PT may claim "OT" after they have worked beyond their contracted hours but their rate of pay does not increase until after 40hrs - so you all come in at 5:30am ( or whatever ), and as soon as you go beyond 13:30, your pay goes up. I start at 6:30am, and have to work past 14:30 to get an increase in wages ( but if I do that every day, I get major grief and pressure from the screws! ) or I can work my day off....but have up to five hours paid at standard rate - and with 35hrs a week contract, I'm lucky!!!
