Too much Hollywood - Its the yanks that do the "Sir, Yes Sir" "This recruit" and all that jargon. Its just Yes Sir No sir in good old HM forces.

One saying in the Forces that does seem apt though is "Don't call me Sir, I work for a living"

Does that mean you have to 'tug on your forelock' and look down at the ground when doing this then, or hold you cap in both hands while you bow your head slightly (like an old victorian workhouse type) whilst saying this to your manager/DOM?
