spoken to one today...starts a 07.30 finishes 16.30 well that when there suppose to finish, they are expected to stay out and continue until thee days work is done without overtime laughed I nearly shat myself

Well a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine was expecting a delivery from by city-link, he watched the van drive past his flat and continue up the hill,it was about 5.30pm, no delivery he phoned up the local depot to be told sorry the driver couldn't deliver it, he needed to get home to watch the footy on tv. The company he ordered from wasn't to pleased either, they had to refund nest day delivery charge and also lost a regular customer.

Been there, done that 4 years ago - 6am start, 6pm finish, bring back what you don't deliver ( but you have it on board tomorrow - with another 120-150 packets......the same amount you failed to complete today! ) The only overtime you got was going out to get signatures for loan applications....£10 a pop, first come first served - based in Maidstone, all I could get was inside the M25 around the A2-A20 corridor Oh yeah, you know we all complain about co workers that only care about themselves? RM has nothing on multi droppers.....out of about 35 - 40 drivers, only 2 or 3 offered help.....I got more help and advice from the controllers and the night warehouse staff! They did get one thing right though - I only ever saw one manager!

Done Parcelfarce for a agency 12 or so years ago , same compulsory overtime , team working & obviously bullying , pace you had to work at was ridiculous unloading artics , layout of the place was a joke using that yellow builders spray paint on the floor for bullrings . You'd even had to go outside to unload one wagon into another one , thank God it wasn't raining or snowing .

It was one of these Industrial Units - totally inadequate for purpose .

Sorting Staff had to move the vans about inside . The rate was initially good for a agency then it started going down . Staff were pretty young - The Thatcher's children types .

Spoke to some of the staff , it got interesting , driver's schedules could only be achieved with a Tardis , you'd spend most of your time in a Police Station / Court or Hospital if you'd managed to keep to them . Lots of allegations of docket payment being withheld by management , union rep was miles away - corrupt ? .

Probably what RM want ? - Most of the parcel companies are slave drivers , you'd have to be young ( gullible , naive and non union too ? ) to keep up that pace .

Spoke with a customer recently who knows someone who works for UPS and they said that UPS drivers workloads were going up & up to the point it was near on impossible to get done on time which would explain the 7.35pm delivery I got off them a few weeks back

Victorian Values - You will start when it is dark and finish when it is dark , we will turn the clock back 80 - 100 years to make you grateful for your job - and they say the CWU is stuck in the 70's at least it's the 20th Century

Royal Fail want us in line with ALL other delivery companies, so how long will it be before we start at 6am and finish when the jobs done
12+ hours a day and no overtime

Started seeing quite a few of this lots packets coming through the system in the last couple of days and they weren't DSA, probably didn't have time to deliver or couldn't find the place, all passed to the surcharge section
