working at another do/mc during xmas(expense)?

had a call from my dom this morning saying that i'm one of a few who will be required to work at another MC during the xmas busy period.
the other mc is 20 miles away can i claim fuel expense?

No, you go to your own office/mail centre for your start time, they have to get you there, then return you to your office/mail centre for your finish time!

ask about exsess fare alowence... as they asked you to move you can get payed the difference between youre normal travel and the new mc

any ideas how many pence per mile?

Im a part time reserve and ive to go to Glasgow Mail Centre in Springburn which is 5 miles from my normal office/house. Manager said ive to get there on my own the problem is that I dont drive, there are no buses at the time Ive to start ( 6am ) or trains. He said there would be a driver at my normal office coming to deliver/collect mail at 5am or thereabouts.

Ive been told NOTHING about who I should be reporting to at GMC, what I should be wearing etc

you have been left in a lurch.

managers job to sort out travel if you can't get the bus at that time in the morning

why should you be there at that time for a lift if your start time is 6am? fook that i would not wait for hr just to get a lift.

ask you dom if he would reimburse taxi fares?

Just turn up at YOUR office,see your rep asap as well,and let the manager sort it.
It's an agreement in the P&M deal,despite the shite with the deal,management haven't a leg to stand on.

Only problems I can see arising is

1. Im not in the union ( was never introduced to rep as he is just back last week from the sick since ah joined in September )
2. I chose the early shift rather than the 2-10pm shift - assuming I would have transport ( and because Im unavailable in the evenings ).

The rep should be ok,even if you're not in the union,ask for his help,and then JOIN.

Thats what i'll do then.

One of the other boys that was goin is now stayin as he was told if he did he'd be on a normally lapsed ( or k-part whatever its called ) walk for five weeks. The rest of the part timers that are goin either drive or are getting a run from one who drives. I on the other hand havent even had chance to ask as was my day off today and they all come in early so on Monday when I hardly see em since I come in at 9.15 or whatever my start time is and they are out the door.

I did a lot of travelling to subs this year. You can claim return miles as well.
40p per mile I think? There was talk of it being reduced but not sure when. Your manager should tell you anyway.

I regularly work in another ofice which is 25 miles away. I claim 40p per mile which is the distance from my ofice to the other office. The manager needs to know your car registration, engine size and type of vehicle.
