I was in the job a few months at the time, was rang up on my mobile phone asking where I was on delivery, was called slow, stupid and told to get a bloody move on as well as a few other stock rants.

Was only in the job a few months and stupidly did nothing about it.

I have witnessed bullying multiple times.

Seen my DOM bully line managers multiple times.
I presume thats why linos pick on vulnerable posties.

IT GOES ON AT OUR PLACE TOO, ITS JUST THAT THEY PICK THEIR TARGETS. IT SEEMS JUST AS BAD FOR OUR MANAGERS WHO ARE OFTEN THREATENED/ INTIMIDATED BY THEIR SUPERIORS.MIND YOU IF THEY CHOOSE TO BE DOOR MATS, THEY WILL GET WALKED ON!!!!

at our office we have collected and noted over 30 instances of bullying by our manager and they have been presented to our area manager who up to now has done nothing about it. Dont have any hope of anything happening about it either. He is still at our office doing the same thing. The only positive thing to do with bullies is to remove them from the situation in which they feel they have power, and then be sacked in front of the individuals who have had to endure humiliation and bullying.

I can cite a couple of personal examples of Royal Mail management bullying tactics, and have seen it happen to others on numerous occasions.

I'd be willing to speak to an independent enquiry (RM totally refuses to accept) with evidence.

Will this issue be one that comes under the auspices of "nothing is agreed until everything is agreed" Roger Poole mentioned yesterday?

I've seen it happen, in our place management will decide to pick on one person for a while, I've had my turn and am sure I will have it again.
Individually the managers are nothing to worry about, most can't even read and write properly but as a group they can be quite intimidating.
Nothing has ever happened to any manager in my building but I think that us posties reluctance to complain has a lot to do with it.

Ive done a few years now and have experienced bullying from managers personally and have had to take the matter further,the one thing that does stick in my throat is that you see it almost on a daily basis,Royal Mail would like to say that this does not happen within the business but i have seen it more since this last re-hash of delivery offices,managers are the worst offenders,i have warned a manager on more than 1 occasion over their tactics when dealing with one of the women who has stuck to the rules rigid and has not budged when they have tried blaming her for not being able to finish her delivery which they refuse to test because they know it's to big and they have made a mess of it but i have noticed that it's managers doing it all the time and their own managers are joining in with it,we have a DSM who thinks he's jack the lad and he is always calling the postie's lazy baskets,he has never done a delivery hes one of those that thinks he can keep cutting hours then thinks it is cleaver,just think of my bonus and yours is his stat answer,when you have a go at them for bullying staff they will stand and say they are not they bring your not working to the standard into it ,i do believe that this company has gone down hill and some of the actions of managers is why we have so much of it in this company,it should be made clear that to clear it up it has to be lead from the top.

Yep, saw asst Dom shouting/threatening postie after he had raced after him, followed by a face-to-face confrontation. Didn't really know what it was about, but all the office was tense. Could have come to blows if bullied postie had been a bit more aggressive, but he used his head and didn't take the bait.
Don't think a few others would have had the same self-control...

There is bullying and harassment going off at local level and at times nothing is done about it. If I was being bullying or harassed and nothing was being done about it, I would take the day off work and pay a vist to RM headquarters to speak to someone about it, the local managers do not like this. What posties do not realise if bullying and harassment is going off it is probably kept at a local level (and is swept under the carpet depending on who is doing the bullying and harassing). Posties need to inform RM headquarters (Head of Diversity) because they might not be aware of the bullying and harassment within your office.
