That is the way the system works.
You either have one absence of three days or two absences of 1 day each.
If you had gone back to work the following Tuesday he would have counted the Sunday as well.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

clashcityrocker, i beg to differ mate. You can have one absence of three days, but he's only going to lose two day's pay. After all, he's on a five day contract and he's worked three of the days. Depending on what contract he's on, he may even get SSP for the two days.

Yes you are right.I didn't read the bit about being docked 3 days PAY.I thought he was just on about having 3 days on his record.

Yes 2 days pay lost, 3 days on record.

This is a new one to me chaps i allways thought that you got paid whilst on the sick unless you have used up all your sick days then you would qualify for ssp .

Can any of you explain to me why hes getting docked pay for being on the sick im rather confused.

The story ends with you having done 3days work that week. You are fully entitled to be paid for them. If you aren't paid tell them you are taking them to an employment tribunal. 3days absense will go on your record which is better than TWO seperate single days as the system counts numbers or seperate absences as well as total days off over a set period. Your manager is either simple and can't count or is trying a fast one to wind you up. Former is most likely.

When you are on trial you do not get paid when you're off sick - I fell foul of its after an AOD.

We av a F/T in our office been there a number of years but when ever he goes on the sick now he only gets SSP due to the amount of time hes had off sick.

I'm guessing that's a recuring injury due to accident on duty? Otherwise they would sack him?

Oh right well if RM employed him and he made them aware of his condition they should honour their agreement and allow him the time off he needs. It's no loss to company if he only gets statutory and his NI probablly covers that anyway. Sounds like he could be in the wrong job though!! Like most managers.
