Smoking breaks?

What is the allocated time allowance for cigrette breaks? It's just some people in our office take the pee somewhat and are always sneaking off when there is work to be done.

Any smoking breaks are given as grace breaks and as such are at the discretion of the management, put in a grievence that they are being unfair to the non smokers because they allow smokers time away from their work, or you could just ignore it and concentrate on your own job.

It's not just a smoking issue.
Next time you see someone nip out for one,stop and look around your office.
You will see people standing drinking coffee,p1ssing about with their mobiles,engaging their managers in "meaningful conversation" checking their dropbags AGAIN and various other ways of avioding work.
Leave us poor smokers alone,Everybody hates us and we will all die earlier anyway leaving more pension for you lot.
BTW I would never have a ciggie when there is work to be done.

Shouldn't be allowed IMO. Surely smokers can have one just before they start, have one during their official break and then as many as they need on delivery. We don't have many smokers but the ones that do must go out 3 or 4 times between starting at 5:45 and having a break at 8:20. That really is taking the proverbial, especially when we're constantly struggling on IPS as it is!

Well said Fishtank The ones that generally moan about smokers are ex smokers. I work right up to my time without my 20 min break on the end, that more than covers my cig breaks for the morning, so stick that in yer pipe

That's the issue I have with it. We have rounds in our office which require a couple or three people to work together, so that means going through mixed walk coded mail and segging the letters between them, also bags and packets etc as well so it's not just a case of just getting on with my own job, it's team based work.

I am not moaning [or an ex smoker LOL] just wanted to know if there was some time allowance for smokers, so thanks for the replies.

Team working, an Idea that knobheads come up with, then these very same knobheads implement the idiotic notion of team working, and bingo, we're left with one hell of a mess, where once upon a time, our job was just so straight forward.

Of course there is not a time allowance for fag breaks

At my place the smokers do not go for a fag while the ips is being done,anyone who does is taking the piss.
When they prep they may go out 2-3 times,at the mo it aint a big prolem as the walkers are all usually ready at the same time,but if they begin to take the piss and delay other people then it would need to be looked at.

People need to concentrate on their own jobs and not on what others are doing, that's up to management and if they don't want to do anything about it then that's it (of course it's probably because the managers are the biggest smokers in the office).

PS. I don't know how you can afford to smoke anymore.....................it's nearly £6 for a packet these days and I can find cheaper ways to kill myself slowly, afterall I am working for RM
