30hr contract questions

If not,how do you cover their day off,and,who preps their D2D's.

no 5 x 6hrs (5 day week)
others 2 x 8 and 2 x 7 ( 4 day week)

At mine they are 5 x 6 hours and there day off is covered by another 30 hour part timer on a rotation system. They have to do 20% of the D2Ds for each walk they cover.

How does a 4 day week work? Is it 4 x 10 hrs? How long is a delivery span on a 10 hour shift for example and how many drops would that be?

All work a 5 day week, no-one in the office works 6 days. The only other variation is 2 people job share on 24 hr contracts and do 3 days a week each.

Im a 30 hour week and do five 6 hour days 6.45am to 12.45pm.

My day off is covered by a 30 hour floater who covers four other 30 hour duties.

We prep our own door to doors and we prep our own deliveries.

What about 5hr per day duties.Anyone got them?

I do 5 hour days, but on 25 hour contract. I come in, throw in last few letters ( or sometimes lots!!), do redirections, kill offs, prep door to doors, sort packets etc, then tie up to go out. On a 5 hour day, with 3.5 hour delivery, half hour break, 15 mins travel time to walk, 15 mins to pouch off....it leaves half an hour to get all the above done in the office!!!!

I'm supposed to have a 30 hour contract as above, having been a reserve on a 25 hour contract and then landing my own cover duty. In reality, because one of the collapsed walks is part of my cover I am classed as spare one day per week. For some reason this seems to mean that my contract isn't being altered.

As for HAVING to do 20% of the D2Ds, that would appear to be at the discretion of the person who's walk you're covering. In my experience people would rather you shat in their sandwiches than took 20% of their D2Ds!

My floater currently does 50% for me.

It shouldn't really - just mark have a designated 20% marked on the frame that all floaters should do. To make it easier we make it part of the top row on the frame.

Yeah thats good but I felt the complication would come when it came to get paid. They're great at making an arse of it.

When I was on 30hrs, I worked 5 days X 6 hrs, and on my days off, the floater worked 8 hrs.....the only difference in the duty was the floater would be doing IPS. Now I'm on 35hrs, the gig is the same, but I'm expected to do an hour on the IPS
