in the courierlier this month there was an article on the light weight rm cagool that were available but has been stopped due to the cost
any1 know where i can get one from i want one!

I was just reading that uniform section in the Scourier, the managers response was pathetic and obviously whatever he says goes! As for the fleeces being dual purpose summer/winter thats rubbish, they are cr@p and would rather not wear one.
Trousers lasting 2 years when washed properly what a load of crap, they fall apart and change colour when washed properly.
None of the uniform now is fit for purpose! Fecking cheapskates.

I liked the look of the cagoule too ...but typical there not supplying any of the new style uniform anymore.Ive resorted to using my old snowboarding jacket..more waterproof and lots of sensible pockets!...
Ive also been after the "combat" trousers but now i know why i cant get them either. Ive been wearing my own navy blue combats which i bought in asda instead! (Im a girl btw) I recently ordered some rm trousers they were a size bigger than i normally need and I asked for long length as well ...well there useless to tight and too short ..i measured the waist against my normal trousers and it was at least an inch smaller!!
And another "rant" the shoes arent water proof either im on my 3rd pair of foot wear so far this week !!
To sum it up rm uniform is useless!

I ve been supplementing RM uniform for years now. We have a large sports soccer world outlet store not far from where I live and they do a Dunlop waterproof golf set (jacket and trousers) for about £24. I got my last set out of xmas tip money. They are much lighter than RM issue and the trousers fit better (which aint hard) and allow better ventilation. As already mentioned I put a high vis over the top of the jacket.

I can remember Posties on the car boot for shoes years ago . With another Union - I used to look for Marks and Sparks trousers on the boot sale , put disinfectant in the final rinse and nobody noticed that they weren't issue . Laundered well and well cut .

You can get waterproofing liquid from the likes of Hiking / Army & Navy etc type shops but it's pricey - better than the flu

Apparently it's the cheap indigo dye that was popular in the 70's and come back into fashion again , that fades on the cotton part of the RM trousers turning them pink , orange , purple or whatever .

Again it's like the difference between market jeans and Levi's etc , you wouldn't expect a pair of Levi's to run and fade in the wash . Cheapskates :lfo :cfo :mfo

You can get a tent waterproof spray from Millets or ebay for about £7 a can.

try a tin of Dubbin on your shoes - that'll waterproof 'em - but it's a absolute b***er to get a shine back on - the ladies trousers sound if they are cut far , far too cheap - ridiculous

- they say a lot of the women's clothes / fashions sold in general have measurements that are based on the 50's when people could be a lot shorter and there still was rationing but in RM's case , that's taking the mickey .

The womens trousers are ridiculous, I have to order them 2 sizes bigger just so they are comfortable. I'm thinking of going to Mountain Warehouse tomorrow to buy some proper trousers for the job.......lightweight hiking trousers.

I was told by a woman that was a bit partial to going out walking in scenic areas , that jeans / formal trousers were totally impractical for hiking as they were too tight / restrictive in case there was a shower or you got a bit warm etc so hiking trousers were cut looser to be comfortable .

I'd imagine that Mountain Warehouse would allow for the fact that some outdoor people might need to wear thermals sometimes - layers to stop the cold cutting through is better

It sounds with RM that their suppliers had a given amount of material & thought they could probably run off extra trousers off it if they chopped a inch or two off the hem , waist / seat ...whatever - it all adds up .

Mens civvy trousers used to be the same , a 32 " waist from Top Man / Burtons would cut you in half but a 30 " from Marks and Sparks fitted well .

The RM trousers turning purple sounds if they've been cheaply dyed - e.g. Levis used to dye the denim strands or fibres first - a cheap pair of jeans off the market would have the material dyed - basically like Dylon Wash and Dye only on a industrial scale

Advised by a guy who just did HS course to wear work shoes, unless I had Dr's note etc. Did so, and got foot pain again!
So...what's this Dr's note gimmick? Can I really get one, or if I get injured will RM laugh at it?

Yes you can,if you and your doctor feel you can't wear hard shoes.
