Wilful Delay
We keep on hearing about managers manufacturing charges against posties concerning wilful delay of mail but will give u a recent example of how they wilfully delay the mail. The drivers in our division would notify the manager at the earliest opportunity that they might not be able to complete delivery of their duties and then the manager would say, 'ok whatever you cant deliver just bring it back to the office'. Now the problem I have is, just say that theres people waiting on parcels with medicine inside or live plants or animals inside. Wheres the quality of service here? Wheres the integrity of the mail and statndards that we have to maintain and we are continuously reminded of from our managers? The managers knowingly send out our drivers where they return with bags of mail. So, what difference is there between doing this and somebody deliberately delaying the mail?

Think you answered your own question their BPostie....I suppose managers need a bit of lee-way though citing operational reasons, surely?

Difference is that when managers do it its called operational needs or something like that but when we do it its wilful delay. They dont have to answer to anyone like we do.

Its amazing how many drivers they ask to come in on docket though if the back log is more than a day and they get wind of a senior manager making a "unannounced" visit.celerycelery wrote:Difference is that when managers do it its called operational needs or something like that but when we do it its wilful delay. It's clear to the vast majority of CWU brothers and sisters though - two words DOUBLE STANDARDS
"Today’s workplace has become heartless and soulless. Employees are seen as units of labour, automatons, functionaries, objects for achieving designated tasks, and as costs to be minimised."

Where I work, we drivers do around one hour of foot delivery. If we ever say we can't complete, they always say the same: Get the walk done, bring the packets back. Fully agree though. I mean, to most householders, what is more important? Packets containing items they've paid for and are expecting, or a load of bills, begging letters and advertising?

We have to sit around (well in the summer before absorbtion) waiting for a handfull of missorts yet our dom once let a half lorry load of mech trays sit on the bank one sat because they came in late and they did not want to pay overtime.
Rows of houses all bearing down on me........I can feel their blue hands touching me.......All these things in all positions.........All these things will one day take control..........
