HOW MANY VANS ?

Hi all can anyone answer this if ? deliveries go to two in a van how many vans will it put on the road, think ive seen the figure of 125.000

We don't have enough vans at the moment, they keep going to the garage to be repaired, or should that be the Bermuda Triangle, because they're rarely seen again.
And how can RM afford 125,000 vans when we are 'losing' 10% of mail volumes every year. Has Mandleson got some dodgy deal with a car manufacturer?

quite simple,

125,000 vans that would mean that we had 250,000 posties on the ground, I think the number would be nearer 5,000 new vans.

I have heard th figure is 11,000 but they will be leased not purchased.

Also they can get rid of all the transits that the current drivers use as there will be no need for bag drops or packet men.

they have already tried it at our office the little escort type vans are too small to carry the mail in with two people with mail packets and parcels touching the ceiling ,the transit is better,they also put a partime job in when they took a job out of seven duties because the overtime was too much and we are still booking,its a false economy unless you have small rounds,one job was timed with a manager at 4.45 hours ,when pegasus was run it was 3.20 ,our office like many is run on overtime woth 5 vacancys out of a staff of 43 and one week we had 6 managers on delivery.

It's OK they can use the staff car park,I reckon by this time next year half those spaces will be empty anyway.

Staff carpark thats a good one we have to park half a mile away and walk in or pay £5.90 a day parking.

The traffic wardens will have a field day at our office. We have no space for the vans we've already got in our basement and they ticket any vans they see still parked in the carparks outside our office after 9am. Our local authority is going to make a fortune off it
