Evidence for 5hr Delivery spans ?

I have no doubt about RM plans for next year myself,but a number of Posties I speak to say it wont happen and for RM plans to make saturday a normal working week,and later start times.
I have read the leaked RM stratergy document that came out in the strike,but what other solid evidence is their for these changes.

What is the expected delivery span of these.

Another Proably stupid question is,What Happens if you physicaly cannot do these new mega rounds.?
I myself will not be able to cope with them,so many people I know suffer from bad backs of 1 form or another and knee problems,yet we are going to increase substantialy
the strain on the body?

Will the national CWU say this is a local problem to be ignored by RM localy? and Ignored by the Cwu nationaly?

dependent on the volumes of mail my office is roughly 4 - 5 hr delivery spans, we can't even manage 3.5 hours on a tuesday

I remember the multiple discussions between RM/CWU regarding the H&S issues from moving from 2.5 hours to a MAX of 3.5 hours, before the introduction of SDD. Why is there no problem now that the original delivery span is to be doubled?

Try not to worry yourself sick over this. You can only do what is physically possible for you to do. I do a 7.5 hr day, no OT, no extended, and certainly no 30mins flexibility, or whatever they call that shyte. They can do whatever the hell they like, but they will never force me to go over my time, never. And if my DIM don't like it, tough.

How on earth do they expect men and women who are 50+ to do a 5 hour delivery
Im only 44 and reasonably fit and would really struggle to do walks over 4 hours let alone 5 hours

With all the attention focusing on automation i have no doubt the computer model will differ vastly from the actual practice! That won't stop RM from utilising all hours available in respect of longer delivery spans etc.

The maxim that RM will apply is simply that if we are to retain full-time 40-hour jobs then those hours will be filled somehow. If the theory proves correct (in that we will have less manual handling of mail) then the bulk of our day will be taken up on prepping duties (for p/t staff) and/or the delivery of mail over longer spans than 3.5 hours. RM may concede that extra breaks etc may have to be built into the day, but i would not bank on it!

They paln I see coming is park and loop - this will involve 2 shifts

1 - 7am - 3pm
2 9am - 5pm

1 7am - 10am throw 2 walks in, maybe some Ips
10am - 10.40am break
10.40am - 3pm deliver walk and parcels

2 9am - 10.40am throw walks in and Ips
10.40am -1.20pm delivery walk and parcels
1.20pm - 2pm break
2pm - 4pm delivery parcels
4pm - 5pm collections from firms and boxes on the 2 duties

I believe saturdays will be 6am - 2pm or 7am - 3pm

So what's in it for us? (600calls*1.67p*6=£60.12+£347basic=£407.12) genius it's a fecking pay cut.

We already have 4.15 deliveries in our office and it is just to much for me and I am only 45. Five hour deliveries would be madness. The union threw away any chance of a good deal by cancelling the strikes and come the new year we are going to get shafted big time and I don't think there will be any pay rise either.The management just ignore the union in our office and as the old hands leave it becomes easier for them to do what they want.

Thats the same as me but can take even longer sometimes on prep then there is no chance of finishing in my time.

I'd take that - 35hr week for £400? That's nearly £12 per hour, has anyone looked at a jobcentre recently and seen how much skilled trades are being paid? Not that much.
