travelling distance
hi all i'm looking for a bit of info if anyone can help me out. i work as a relief but most of the time i'm in the same office but my manager has asked me to go to a different office tomorrow. this office is about 25 mies from where i live. is there a max distance that i can be asked to travel????? dont really fancy a 50 mile round trip especially as i only have a little 125 motorbike. any help would be much appreciated

Go into your usual place of work, it is up to your DOM to get you to the other office.

this extra travel time has to come out of your duty hours
up to them to get you there and back again within your hours
also this has to be agreed locally with cwu rep (check with him)

its gonna take me an hour to get there an hour to get home. if i take this off my shift then i only got 2 hours left (20hour contract)

Oh and don't use your own transport - it costs YOU money and you are probably not insured anyway

Last few times ive been sent to other offices a fair bit away ive been with another spare/reserve and we both got half a walk to do.
First time was given run home by the manager at the office I was sent to and other time was given the royal mail account number to use to get a taxi.

Why you no listen???????????? Its down to the dim/staffing office to sort out
i usually work out of tiny office no manager so all i've had is a voicemail on sat to tell me to go to other office. ive never met my manager as he's only just started. its easy to say 'Its down to the dim/staffing office to sort out' but in reality that just int gonna happen.

You turn up at your place of work, if they want to give you a lift out elsewhere then that's down to them. If they do want to send you out to another office seek advice from your Union Representative so you don't get messed about.

when i started i was told the office that i was to be working at. is this my 'parent office' ?? in 18 months i've worked 3 weeks at this office. what is a cluster reserve???

Cluster reserves were used in South London a while back to cover sick leave in DOs.
I cant remember how many we had in SW (THINK IT WAS ABOUT 20)and they were based at Battersea DO where they were used as dog bodies by Doms in the DOs.If a manager could not cover all his walks he would ring up for a cluster reserve who would then be sent over to him.Our local branch had a good agreement to cover the treatment of these people and in the end they were all transfered in to offices that had vacant duties as far as i know.
