Poll:Would You strike now ?

I do not belive for 1 minute Billy or the goverement would allow a stike this side of Xmas,but if they did would you Strike.?
In 2007 I reluctanly went on stike and lost money only for this 2007 agreement wich I dont know who voted for it.
IN 2009 I felt passionetley for the strikes .was on the picket lines,because I know what RM will do to us in Jan .
I would have fully suppourted a all out stike then.

I lost lots of money in this latest stike,the work load when we went back was impossible,and what did the 2007 andd 2009 strikes acheive,1 result more local negotianions and more local talks.
The poor local rep is left all by himself and RM do as thet want.I think of my CWU payments as insurance,If something happens to me ,I have a good local rep who will represent me.
If it were not for that I would cancel my CWU payments.Should not national officers who have a voice at headquarters come round to local depots and see whats happening on the ground.
Billy Hayes will not say 1 bad word against the Goverement ,only Mandelson.
The CWU had the backing of most members in the country,now i think many will see the CWU nationly as week and ineffective,and striking will not solve anything because the national leaders are not in touch with the grass roots just as many Politicians are not in touch regardless of Party.

Aye--you are right that The leaders are not in touch with the grass roots. R/M know if they can hold out long enough,
even the most ardent strikers will be having second thoughts---not so much because they do not want to strike, but because they have lost faith in the Union, which brings us back to Big Billy. Still no word from him. I for one will strike though.
if he doesn't want to fight for our jobs, then we still can.

The first round of strikes has resulted in a change of management attiude at my office so i would go out again but ONLY if it was the very last resort.

No, Its to close to Christmas. I know most people will say thats the reason we should go on strike but i have a great relationship with my customers and I would not potentially f**k up their Christmas for what could end up being another CWU back down.

The CWU should be letting the public know that us posties are not happy but are not going to strike because we want our customers to have a good Xmas. They should be using the Media to rally public support for January.

I said Yes, but i think the union have to be more aggressive with the strikes, 1 day a week leading up to xmas but the final week 2 days before xmas and the 3/4 days in between xmas and new year. This would mean no mail would have moved for about 10 days, rm would never recover and back to one day strikes. If the sort of tactic is done i'd gladly continue to back strikes but not if its one day every week. Its pointless and doesn't impact rm and the business.
I don't really see it as a risk as RM plans are to shred 60,000+ staff. This is going to happen. What staff must do now is start looking at alternative careers.

My problem is I want to strike, and I did go on the picket line during the last ones, but colleagues reminded me that as someone who is on a temporary contract, beign seen to strike may not be a good idea, when I spoke to my Rep about it he could only offer " you have to do what you think is right for you"

I always thought that would be the best way forward too, striking only seemed to put more weight on my shoulder in the days after the strike. The problem there is that it is very difficult to control, how long would people adhere to it ?
