so allocation of overtime how does your office do yours ours is favouritism and what ever we do we carnt stop it

favouritism here too, seems to be going to the strike breakers, manager filling in the over time list himself with the chosen names then putting it up, getting calls from them then coming in to do overtime that hasn't been put up, this place will kick off big time soon

Everytime I do any overtime the amount of hrs I do is put in the aggregate book by the bookroom staff,
All O/T is advertised for the whole shift,
All those who want it have to sign and put they're total O/T hours down and the one with the lowest aggregate gets the O/T.
All hrs resort back to Zero every six months, and for the first 2 weeks after that it is allocated on seniority.
Seems the fairest way, and has been done this way for decades in my place.

the union rep in our office sorts out the O/T with the managers(there mates) and suprise suprise its there drinking buddies that get it all

They're really getting to the bottom of the barrel with our OT grabbers, it's now mostly PTers who do the OT and they're doing more hours than the FTers.

At my place it's the sub rep that does it,and it's/he's fair.
He knows who to ask and who to not ask.

I really don't get how some offices work ffs,it's not hard to work out is it?

We have an over time captain who doesnt have to go on the IPS.

He has a list and goes around in the order of the list asking people if they want O/T.

Once all the O/T is covered the following day he will pick up from the last name on the list who done O/T.

This way everyone gets a shout and no favoutirism is used.

We also have a seperate list for nights that is done in the same way.

we have an overtime sheet each week and whoever wants to do some OT puts their name on it, they work through the list starting from the top each day and when theres no OT left they draw a line at the list and the next day they carry on from the person who would have been next on the list. Pretty fair way I suppose.

This week we had a man down through illness so staff were asked to come in on there days off. one lad was even rang up at home on his day off to see if he wanted to come in. Which he did. It was my day off the next day and the boss went round asking whos day off it would be, me and another lad said it was ours. He never said anything else to us, instead rang up the managers at a bigger office to send someone to cover. Not that we could have come in but nice to be asked hey. Favourtism certainly rules in our office. :cfo
