Just last nite I found myself wondering if the so called competition is really a threat.
I went out on my doorstep for a smoke only to find a letter thrown over my gate onto my doorstep, as I looked further up, I saw the bloke walking along just chucking the letters in the general direction of the doors, and I called out to him and asked him why he didn't box it and he said whats the problem I got the letter and he didn't give a f**k, it was then I noticed that he has been delivering the items to the correct numbers but sadly the wrong street! :roll:
Whether it be UPS, DHL or UK mail, many times in the past I have found myself informing customers that it was not Royal Mail that threw they're packet at they're door while still sitting in they're van, or the packet left outside in the rain which contained a new phone and was now soaked and useless was not left there by me,
Anybody else been blamed for the actions of the competition?

Royal fail has no true ''competitors'' only spongers who feed off the governments pretence of a cohesive policy on what 'competition' really means

True or not, they eat into profits so are regarded as competition. Whether they're any good or not is a different kettle of fish.

What I am finding most interesting at the moment is the increase in DSA packets and parcel. It appears that with the threat of further strikes over Christmas customers have switch to the competition. However its looking like they cannot cope with the extra work and are simply sticking a DSA “S” sticker over their own postage label and putting it in the post.

So we will not only be coping with our own increased workload this year but also TNT, Citylink and all the rest as well. :no no

Yes you can.I believe our service (when running) is better The local knowledge and experience in delivery offices makes it so.Often a very badly addressed letter or packet is passed around our office until someone can pinpoint an address.These couriers can not be bothered as it is usually a short term career.I had a microwave an and kettle left in my porch.I live on a long road that travels through different towns and it was for a different town (right road,right number ,wrong town).I got no joy from the packaging as to the courier so delivered it myself.Turns out it was from house of fraser.

I think also it’s the convenience which we offer to the customers which sets us apart from others. If you are out you can have the item re-delivered any number of times, delivered to your local post office or even delivered to another local address such as your work place.

What I find with couriers is the same old “sorry we missed you today at 9.00am” so we will call at around the same time for two more days in a row and then we will take the parcel back to our collection centre whereupon you have 5 days to collect it until we return it to sender. :d'oh! (other than rec we keep items 3 weeks) Chances are if you are at work 9 am one day then you will be the following days. Also the collection centre is 20 miles away and you need to ring before hand giving 24 hrs notice. :arrrghhh

I have had nightmares with courier companies trying to get re-deliveries.

I have to say i think we (RM) are the dogs bollox :dance

It amazes me how we do what we do.

Just a shame there are a few management and blue/red shirts that f**k it up at times.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I know it's probably different in your surburban homes !, but out here in the rural charm of North Norfolk, we dont have any competition !

It's too bloody costly for any other company to even contemplate delivering in the rural areas.
