BT Tracked items to be doorsteped!!!!!!!!!
Today at our office we were told that we were to doorstep all BT Tracked items if no one was home as this is what BT want . I deliver to houses with their doors right on the path so i brought back the item only to be told by my D O MANAGER that i was to leave it on the doorstep and if i did it again would be taken down the conduct code .He then got someone to take it out to leave on the doorstep i would give it 2 minutes before getting nicked as its not the best of areas .20 years i have been in this job having drummed into us not to doorstep.Do BT realy want this or are royalmail yet again trying to do things on the cheap . Up till today the items were brought back with no docket left then tried to redeliver again later that day then so on and so on, till someone was home .This is not a good thing as customers are going to blame the postie/royalmail for these getting stolen. Customer complaints are going to go through the roof which does not look good on the delivery office.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: BT Tracked items to be doorsteped!!!!!!!!!
AFAIK with BT Tracked if there is no answer from the customer you have to try the neighbours, if you get no answer from them aswell its not to be 739'd but to be taken back to the D.O. where the manager is meant to find someone else to deliver it later on in the day.
So keep on moving, moving, moving your feet

Our office got into trouble with these as well - too many shuts being left by posties. BT don't seem to understand its not safe to leave them in many areas, or don't care. I still shut them if they can't be left safely and nothing has been said. If they want them left at doors, fine, but I would refuse to take any responsibility for them.POSTMAN wrote:Moved to blue shirts.

Re: BT Tracked items to be doorsteped!!!!!!!!!
I may be wrong, but i seem to recall an article about this service from BT.
if i remember correctly, the issue was an engineer is due to install on that day, only
to find a card from us but no box.
BT demanded that the package is 'delivered' or in other words left in a safe place,so they
have the item when the engineer calls.
But it shouldn't mean you can doorstep

raiz1972 I would ask your manager to put it in writing, i'm sure this will come back to bite him.
We were told because updated PDA's we could leave in 'safe place' with 739 saying where item was.
This is a big difference from what you've been told.

Told to leave on the doorstep by a manager if no answer, asked him to give me the instruction in writing and he refused, so I return all items to the Office,

If this is the case why does the engineer not take the item with him. He's got a van!robd wrote:I may be wrong, but i seem to recall an article about this service from BT.

Re: BT Tracked items to be doorsteped!!!!!!!!!
No doorstepping - RM state leave items In a safe location only if we deem it safe and regardless of what instructions are on the item that can't be delivered.
I never doorstep, put in bins, sheds or anywhere that is not secure if it goes missing itmy fault so not taking the risk since RM would love to sack me as they have one of my colleagues and they followed the instructions on the item and it went missing.

My mate found his at the bottom of his garden, thrown over the back gate by a delivery driver (NOT RM), so he told BT he hadnt had delivery and they sent him another.

It says on the BT packages that 'Safe place if recipient is out' (or words to that affect) but ours are all SD and until I get written instructions they always get returned to the office.
BTW how does it take an engineer to fit a broadband router? If you're really that dim then yo shouldn't have the internet.

Some bloke assumed that I was supposed to install it, called me back after I handed him the item and walked away
