Well time is allocated in the hours "budget" for each office, but as usual RM make up the rules as they go along.

I agree, when I was allowed in to them it was great, but they kept not answering questions I had and because I tried to make sure they lasted 30 minutes my colleagues got up tight too - now I am just given a copy of the proceedings - except for the last few months - I don't think they like me

you should have a wtl every week,look upon them as your chance to ask management awkward questions if he does not know the answer he should find out and, reply to your question within a week if he fails to do so complain to him then take out a grievance and follow it through,hes not your workmate, so dont make life easy for him

Royal Mail has introduced these communication standards to ensure people are involved and engaged in the company and able to contribute to its success. These mandatory standards for our managers are listed below:



* Communicate everyday, fact to face with your people
* Talk and listen to people about issues that affect them in a timely and consistent way
* Hold pre-shift huddles with your teams
* Hold weekly Work Time Listening and Learning (WTL) sessions
* Spend your Firstline Fix money
* Continually feedback issues from your people up the line and make sure you get answers to their questions
* Manage the noticeboards in your unit and ensure they are regularly updated and reflect the issues that are important to your team
* Encourage your people to participate in the have your say process, share results and involve your team in developing an action plan to improve the office
* Improve performance by consulting with your team
* Celebrate success however small.

WTL sessions are "Mandatory"-authoritatively ordered; obligatory; compulsory

You should demand to have them. They're getting half an hours extra work out of you for sweet f/a every week. Get the rep on board and make it his/her job to ask where they are and why you're not having them. The DOM will use the hours to collapse extra walks and make themselves look good. Don't give them the spare time and make sure they last the full 30 mins - no feet kicking
