Still beeing kicked off my floating dutie once or twice a week so the regular job holder/s can come in on there day off and grab an easy days overtime at my expense. Dont know what do for the best now as its stressing me up big time and its affecting my work. Management just say ,,,were short of staff so there ! I get moved to a duty i dont know ,while he happily smiles away working his day off ,making an extra days money, on the job i signed for. ! Been in rm for 11 years now ,and just feel like a piece of s ,,,t. Been to doc twice bout things reg health affected by work, and told the boss 3 times that ive seen my doctor and feel i cant cope ,yet just gets ignored . Im beeing kicked off my job again on thursday ,i feel like going in to work that day and telling them i cant cope with this constant discrimanation n stress and getting signed off. Oh then theyl stress me up by phoning me every day while im off! Any ideas what i can do?

You think you have it bad! What about coming into work then being told you have to go to a delivery office ten miles away for the rest of the week that some do in my office!

I think that's a s**t way to treat you. My DOM knows I will work my day off but only if my own walk is available as I can't be arsed doing any walks I am not familiar with on what is my day off. Likewise I have told my rotation man not to give way unless he is okay with the walk he is offered in exchange so we are both happy. I get to work my day off perhaps twice in each 6 week rotation and the day off man gets a walk he prefers to mine. If you have signed for a duty it is YOUR duty - in my office if you want to come in then you take what is offered unless the rotation man gives way like mine does.

both of these examples are shocking.floaters are entitled to stay on walk they are supposed to cover that day.even when someone ask me to swap their day off ,i tell them to check with "floater" to see if its ok with him

I have been moved to another office as well ,i havent been off for a very very long time ,but think its now they only way i can take a stand against bullying management .Take when i get kicked off my job on thursday ,,,,what if i said i was not moving from the frame /walk im suposed to be doing at the same time embarrasing the guy whos working his day off by not moving from the frame?Would the manager suspend me etc?

Hello mate,
Happens to me regularly.
I normally end up being moved twice a week.
Have a regular t@sser who comes in on his day off nearly every week at the moment - knows I'm not happy but doesn't give a s**t.
He even came in one saturday when it was his day off and left all the mailsort for me for the monday.

I refuse to get stressed about it though - if I get moved I don't do IPS and refuse to work a minute over. One day they'll realise moving me is a bad move for them!

I think you should face up to the guy who is coming in on his day off and in a strong manner, tell him how you feel. He may not know that it is bothering you so much, if he does then he is a fricken w*nker. People doing their days off should be available to do any work required on that day (flexibility) but unfortunately management use the carrot and stick approach to get people in and move floaters (flexibility). The management are just interpretting flexibilty as they wish, regardless as to whether it is fair or not.
That duty is assigned to you on the cover day and I am pretty sure you could take it to your rep and put in a disagreement about it.
Failing that, be patient and build some more seniority to enable you to get your own duty.

Have you spoke to your office rep about whats going on here?
This would not happen at our place unless the rest day cover agreed(which very rarely happens)to pick up another duty.
If these guys want to work there rest days then they should be prepared to do another duty other then there own.
If your rep thinks this is ok then ask him how he would feel if it was happening to him,i bet he or your manager or the colleagues who are doing this would not like it if this was happening to them.

This happens from time to time in my office, some get pushed around whereas others won't accept it, sometimes they will offer you an easy walk instead, or otherwise they have to move the person on overtime.
Get your rep involved, and make your manager and colleague aware tomorrow, that on Thursday, you will be performing your duty.

i'd ashk the Managers how they can say in one breath no one's to get overtime, then allow some folks to do just that?

Pleased to say this kind of selfish behavior doesn’t exist in our office. Only by mutual agreement does a floater get moved off his job so it can be covered by someone on there day off. I wouldn’t stand for that crap, no way.

Just tell the guy who is working his day off that from now on when you get asked to work your day off that you will be doing his round. If the manager refuses then put in a grievance on the grounds that he is favouring the other postie.

VERY SAME THING happened to me today!

Was pushed to a rural duty again because my town walk was covered by yes, the regular working his day off. Should not be allowed.

i get moved off my delivery so a float can go on it because they wont train him up on the float duties he signed for 6 months ago
