Time off over Christmas

Does anyone actually know what days we're getting off.

The "Christmas Card" RM sent out says no deliveries 25 Dec to 28 Dec inclusive.
That would mean:
Friday 25 Dec Christmas Day
Saturday 26 Dec Boxing Day
Sunday 27 Dec
Monday 28 Dec
Is this correct, can't believe they would give us to Monday off.

Monday is the bank holiday and is therefore a non service day so your surprise should be 'I can't believe they're giving us Saturday off'

Happy days. I was talking to a mate the other day we both thought we would be back monday. Thats a bit of good news today.

double whammy for me - my long weekend falls on the new year weekend so I get TWO four day breaks - I suppose as my day off falls on christmas day they can use that for the Saturday 26th off instead of culling it from annual leave.

If your rest days fall on any of these bank holiday days then you will either get them added to next years leave or you can claim the days off as docket.Thats what happens at our place.

Do you mean they are taking a day of my holidays next year? Do they not have to ask my permission for this? What if I'd rather work that Saturday than be forced to give up one of my days?

it will be days off like any bank holidays, if its your day off you will get it back in lieu and it will not be taken off next years holiday, hope that helps.

Think yourselves lucky,my sis and sis-inlaw who works for Argos,HAVE to work on the 26th! Boxing day!! It's a normal day for them.

AND if they don't work on the bank hol Mon,they HAVE to work on news year day,they have to at least work one of them!!

from what i remember the last time the days fell like this we all worked an hour more a day during the preceding week but that was when we had a 5hr 30 saturday

I decided to book leave and Lieu days over Xmas this year, so for the first time in 13 years I won't be working between Xmas and New year - I finish Xmas Eve and don't go back until Jan 13th

That wouldn't be a problem, with the amount of overtime I'm doing just to get my round finished everyday I could have a day off every week
