hi-vis jackets/dog bites

has anyone noticed that when wearing hi-vis jackets or storm proof coats dogs tend to act much more aggresively, than when not wearing them, i think for safety's sake RM should look into having future jacket/coat designs to incorporate a flourescent band on each arm only, this need only be acouple of inches wide and will serve the same purpose as hi-vis vests, it may also save RM some money

Yes i have noticed this. I can walk down my street with no problems from dogs whilst in my civies BUT in a high vis the buggers want to rip my throat out

Correct me if I'm wrong ( I could well be ), but I think for workers on the highway, they have to use a specific level of EU regulated high visibility clothing.....day-glo colour with no reflective bands / dark clothing with 2 reflective bands would either be illegal or below acceptable standards for work on the highway. I'd rather my proposal to the problem was looked into as a viable solution, viz, issue all delivery staff with ex British armed forces Webley service revolvers......one growl from a mutt & 5 seconds I'd be on the blower to the local Korean restaurant!

Best thing to do with them when they keep snatching it out your hand and nearly having your fingers off is fold a magazine up post it through the letterbox holding on tight to it, waggle it around and when the dog grabs hold off it tight, pull it back out out the letterbox fast. Dog whacks its head against the door, bit of satisfaction for the postie. I'd never do anything like that of course being an animal friendly postie
