Early retirement and colleague shares

I have recently taken on the job as DO unit rep in a small rural office[10 town walks,6 rurals,and 10 spdo's].As no one has been rep and the previous rep was struggling[substance abuse problems which were taken advantage of by the DOM] changes were steamrollered in as fact rather than agreement/concensus.

I have lots of questions to ask about this in the next week or so,but the first relates to the topic heading.

A female colleague recently retired at 60[June] and was told she had to resign rather than retire[technicality] as it was early.She refused and put retire in her letter,and her manager had no problem with this.

Her major complaint is in relation to the colleague shares she has accrued.She/I have been consistently told she is not entitled to these but I recently read on this forum about someone who was made to take ill health retirement and had to fight to get their colleague share entitlement.Firstly,

I'm sorry about no paragraphs as It's my first post on an internet forum;but secondly,and more importantly could anyone point me in the right direction towards the fact of this issue.

As an aside, we were constantly bombarded with "this is a London issue" propaganda etc, and from an office of 30,where half were going to go in,once I made them aware of the truth only one went in.I'm the easiest going guy imaginable,always going "the extra mile"much more so than my managers,but enough is enough and you have to stand up for what is right.Regards from the northwest of Scotland.

What if I leave before four years are up?

Anyone who is dismissed or who resigns will lose their
ColleagueShares.

If, however, you are made redundant, retire or take ill
health retirement, or if your business is transferred
out of the Company then, provided you have had the
ColleagueShares for at least one year we will buy them
from you at their current valuation. So, we would look
back at the most recent valuation and buy them back
from you at that price. In the unfortunate event of
anyone who has held ColleagueShares for at least one
year dying, we would pay the money to their estate on
the same basis.

I guess the argument with my manager on Monday will be over whether she retired or resigned.Jeez,you'd think it was his money.

How on earth do you manage to browse their intranet like that? This info looks great but sitting at home I cannot get this kind of stuff. Priceless and thanks.

I know there is a way to be able to log onto the intranet from home using my username and password which would be handy for union work but have no idea how. Is this what you're doing? Any info would be great
